Now can we please get back to discussing the trial. May I start by asking, what can we expect on Wednesday?

You can be sure that the Police and the Prosecutor have employed the most up-to-date resources and most sophisticated technology and techniques in planning their strategies and preparing evidence--gathering and collating witness statements and exhibits for introduction at trial. The technology used to recover and print the Travis Alexander, Jodi Arias e-mails, (is the number 82,000?) is a case in point. The defense has claimed that the Prosecution ought to have provided the information as Discovery by taking a screen shot of each message individually starting back in 2008. The Police Technician has testified that it was an almost impossible task and would have taken years to complete. Since then, technology has emerged that allowed the Police and Prosecution to efficiently extract the information from whatever computer and/or cell phone where it resided, and they used that new technology and they did it. The defense Lawyer, Mr. Nurmi, still attempted to use that time lapse to support a charge of prosecutorial misconduct. His motion got tossed. He will continue to try. That is the Art of Lawyering. The Lawyers are the essential ingredient in this trial. That's why the State of Arizona provides one at no cost to Jodi Ann Arias. They tell the story. The evidence is their props.

Whatever is presented in that courtroom as evidence, will not be enhanced in the slightest by a bunch of crime-scene wannabees, grubbling with the minutiae of whether or not a photo reveals a tiny spot of blood in a corner or by endless speculation on whether or not it is a figure of a Ninja in the reflection in Travis Alexander's right eye or is it Pixie Dust newly discovered in a photographic image taken five years ago. Whatever is discerned or imagined by anyone on this thread, will not be introduced into court as new evidence. No more than the testimony of Mr. Gus Searcy. This is not bloodsport. It is serious business.

Get back to thinking what this tragedy means to the People of the State of Arizona who are Prosecuting Ms. Jodi Ann Arias and asking their Superior Court., in accordance with the Laws of the State of Arizona, to convict Jodi Ann Arias of the crime she has committed against the PEOPLE--i.e. the first degree murder of one of their citizens, Mr. Travis Alexander, on the afternoon of June 4, 2008, and to Order that Ms. Jodi Ann Arias be put to death in accordance with the Laws of the State of Arizona. Share some of that insight with the rest of us. Leave the science to the experts, and the facts to the triers of the facts--the members of the Jury! Despite what science offers us in the way of explanation for what may have driven Jodi Arias to kill Travis Alexander--chemical imbalance, psychiatric or personality disorders, alleged abuse--try to offer some insight as to what other factors were present within her that can offer us some better insight into what made her a murderer. That's the question many of us are trying to grapple with in this case. And that is the gap between what science offers us by way of explanation and the answer to the question we, as a society, continue to grapple with. Maybe there are demons amongst us!!! The unanswered questions are in that gap and they are the important ones. What is it that makes somebody like Jodi Ann Arias a murderer? How can we recognize the next one. You won't find the answers relentlessly and endlessly poring through the photos of the elmos of the photos of Travis's bathroom posted on the internet.

Give it up! When the trial resumes, that sort of stuff will only distract the other members of this thread from focusing on the reality of what is happening and its significance to the People of the State of Arizona, the family and friends of Mr. Travis Alexander, the Institutional Church he belonged to, perhaps the family and friends of Ms. Jodi Ann Arias and, by extension, to the rest of us who seek to live in a society free of the mayhem and the chaos exemplified in the bloody scene in Travis's bathroom that his friends came upon the evening of June 9, 2008.

I am fairly confident that Juan Martinez and his amazing team know exactly what they are doing....their exhaustive work on this case is evident. We need to stay focused on the task at hand, which is standing in support of Travis and his family, and seeing that the person who committed this crime is brought to justice. When people bicker and argue, I am reminded to think of how the Alexander family members and friends feel right now....what they are going through. And how I'm pretty sure they would trade their problems in life with most of our "problems" in a heartbeat.

No, it would be a first degree murder conviction if she's found guilty of felony murder. Nurmi pointed this out in one of the televised evidentiary hearings.

Defense experts of questionable pedigree and then, hopefully, a couple of bombshells from Mr. Martinez launched from a platform of solid, irrefutable, factual evidence.

Maybe a couple of examples of virtuosity lawyering! (if that's a word!)

Jodi Arias: She’s ‘Feeling Pretty Confident’

Bryan Carr, a close friend of Jodi’s who has been visiting her in prison frequently, tells Radar Online that Jodi “is feeling pretty confident that there is going to be a mistrial, and that it is going to look bad for the prosecution.”

So we can be clear, a mistrial occurs when the judge terminates the case prematurely because of some misconduct by one of the participants, the judge determining that his court isn’t legally appropriate to deliver a verdict, or a jury cannot come to a unanimous decision.

Since so far there have been no signs of misconduct, and the time for the judge to declare his courtroom inappropriate is passed, Bryan must be predicting that the jury is going to be hung, unable to unanimously decide if Jodi is guilty or innocent.

Jodi Arias Will Only Be Convicted Of Manslaughter?

And even if a mistrial doesn’t happen, Bryan is confident that Jodi will not be convicted for premeditated murder and will only be convicted for manslaughter, which doesn’t worry him and Jodi at all: “Even if there’s no mistrial, in the state of Arizona, the average sentence for manslaughter for a female is six years, and she has already served over four years in jail so she thinks she could even get “time served” and then five years parole.”

Nurmi and Wilmont will want their experts on for four days straight. Juan Martinez is still doing his cross. Then quite possibly MORE juror questions and then Nurmi gets another crack at her. We won't see the "experts" until next week.

You think Jodi will be off the stand and Nurmi will get to experts on Wednesday?
I think the jury will have more questions and we'll have to go through more rounds of redirecting and x-exam -- not that I mind. That jury is every bit as brutal on Jodi's credibility as the State is.

As for the defense DV expert, I think it will be the same way it was with Wendi Adriano. He'll ask her whether or not she evaluated Jodi as an actual victim of DV, and how she came to that determination. In Wendi Adriano's case the questionnaires given to Wendi were designed for treating victims for DV, not diagnosing it. Like Adriano's expert, Alyce LaViolette is just a family marriage therapist and doesn't have the credentials to make such a determination, so she's out of the picture. That leaves the forensic psychologist. Judging from the defense's late motions to provide only redacted reports from their forensic psychologist, I assume that the full report is incriminating to Jodi. Maybe it proves she changed stories or lied? One of JM's questions hinted he might be going there.

Oh Ron, you must rise above quoting a crack head. It's makes you look like a loser. And we know you're not a loser. Bryan Carr is nobody you need to be quoting. He's beneath you. Go to her, Ron! Follow your heart! Be swift and sweep her off of her feet. (she likes that kind of stuff)

Hey noobs! I'm sorry you guys are getting your asses handed to you. Makes me sad. I've had mine handed to me too. You kind of learn the in's and out's in here and just try to make everyone happy. It isn't going to happen though. Don't take it to heart. My whole thought is when the trial isn't on, there is time to discuss things. Some of us aren't up to date like others. So we will have questions. Totally understandable. This should be a place for you to come to and get answers. After all, it is a forum about the murder of Travis Alexander! If you need any help, I'm more than happy to lead you in the right direction. Good luck!

I think this is an excellent case to post, in parallel! And it shows that Juan Martinez most definitely knows what he is doing!!!

Wtf happened here? The noobs came in to take over and ask questions that have been debated and questioned already? And other noobs that have joined in the last month are telling people what to do? Ugh.

I know I wasn't around much the last 2 weeks (crazy sick, including some hospital time) but I a, so sick of seeing Jodi's smug face. Bring on the "experts" that will not prove she is a battered woman so this chick can get locked up.

That said, Juan isn't done with re-cross is he? He has more up his sleeve... I hope.

I agree. It would be nice if they would say something other than "anal sex, anal sex, masturbate, EJACULATE!" so I could actually watch a little bit with my kid around. He's like a parrot right now ... I can't let him hear that stuff!!

I am pretty sure the judge said that court won't resume until Wednesday. Juan could not have hit his high note, with the "would it surprise YOU..." question, at a more precise and important moment than he did. Leaving the jury with that whopper in their heads until Wednesday!! For that reason, I'm more than happy to be patient and wait!
