Have treated literally hundreds of suicidal people. Rarely do they write notes and they don't give them out or send them prior to the deed. These letters have the secondary gain of alarming her family. IMHO.

I thought a suicide letter was a very common thing? I think that is why they are now talking about them so much. When my sister in law committed suicide she mailed letters out. They arrived to her oldest sister several days after her suicide. :( (It was a letter asking her sister to give the letters included to her three children someday. They were all under the age of 7. Very sad.)

That would not ever be allowed in any California court! You can't chew gum or have electronic devices on in our courts. It's considered disrespectful to eat or drink. I've seen judges throw people out for chewing gum. Can't believe this judge allows it! It's a joke! A circus!!!! And to have her family laughing and joking. It's someone's brother, friend, son, etc. not to mention their daughter/niece. Her family is sure bizarre.

I agree!! What is with her terminology. She is an extremely strange person... her mannerisms, her act of innocence and professionalism. Her hand motions, her words...she's really an odd duck. Her tenses are strange too...I hear her many times say things about Travis like, "It's his life", or "He doesn't do that/doesn't like that" - he's gone. He DIDN'T do or like that. Then her use of "passed away" like you mentioned. WTF. She is 360 revolutions of strange!!!

You are spot on - the mannerisms, strange use of tenses, her possession of him, even in death - using robotic language. The hand motions too! It's like watching a creature from another planet. She disturbs on so many levels.

25 to 30% of those succeeding at suicide leave a note behind, so not uncommon.
