This is really random but I gotta say that I am glad I was not driving on the same roads as Jodi back in June 2008, what with all her fog and near sighted-ness.

And God only knows what might have been flying out her window... like a gun maybe?

And it's not like she was driving across the Sahara. There is civilization along the way. All she had to do was keep an eye on her gas gauge. Most newer cars (though I don't know in 2008), have computers that even tell you how many miles you have until you will run out of gas.

GPS existed in 2008. Even on cell phones. If she didn't have one, why didn't she skip the wax-job, manicure and 50 stops at Starbucks and spent a few bucks to rent one along with her car?

She likely moved back to Yreka because she didn't have a job in Arizona and Travis was done paying her bills and lending her money. Not because she was done with him.
GPS-I thought the same thing. I noticed she said she was not taking her car which had GPS (I guess this was the BMW since the Infiniti had already been repossessed), and she had printed some mapquests.

Agree. Also, because she had probably worked at (and had been fired from, or quit to go road trippin with Travis, or clean his house so she could accidentally fall asleep and still be there when he got back from his 2nd and a half date with Mimi) every restaurant in Mesa and she was out of options.

And was she really stalking/obsessed with him if she wrote in her journal how she couldn't see herself marrying him and that there was something 'off' about him? After all she did move away from Mesa back to Yreka to get away from him. And as for the question of "why did you keep going back to him", at the risk of TMI in my younger days (long time ago!) I was in a relationship that I knew was unhealthy and bad for me, but the physical part was too strong and it does keep pulling you back even when you know you should run the other way, and if that resonates with me it just may be reaching a juror or 2. And renting the car in Redding, so what? It was on the way and what was she covering up by doing it that way instead of in Yreka? Is he saying she was trying to keep the fact that she was going on a road trip a secret? Her brother knew, I assume the grandparents knew since she lived with them, the ex-boyfriends knew and Ryan Burns knew. It doesn't mean a thing to me as far as premeditation.

I am NOT on Jodi's "side". I do NOT want to see her get away with this. I just don't think Juan Martinez has made his case. I welcome any differing opinions, and I truly hope I'm wrong!
oh I get you are playing devils advocate, I do it myself : )
As far as the trip a secret, the state ever said it was. They are sticking straight to the side road trip to kill Travis that is the secret portion aka proof of premeditation. THAT part she took great pains to cover up and keep secret.
As far as the journal, would she lie in it .. sure, we've seen evidence she even lied in it after she killed Travis pretending she didn't know. She's crazy evil. That kind of liar can easily lie to themselves, others and their journal! Not marrying him, pfft that entry alone shows her defeated, depressed she wasn't winning him over imo. Her actions alone show it was her chasing him. Same journal,. I love him so completely She said she wanted to kill herself in the same journal .. damn she didn't do that either.
I am very familiar with bad relationship in youth, I don't however project that into this case for Jodi to balance out anything. Every instance needs to be evaluated on its own is how I approach it. Jodi was almost thirty, not a teen.

I heard him TRY to do this but his points seemed to be helping the prosecution more than hurt it - especially in regard to the gas cans, renting of car in Redding, the gun, etc...
I addressed these points in a reply to someone else and am too lazy to retype (it's kinda long) but it's on P. 1604, post #40096.

    Thanks for your reply!

She was still driving the Infiniti. She blew the engine in the BMW up when she tried to tow it behing her UHaul truck in 1st gear as she was leaving Mesa.

He was actually my Mom's dog. My brother passed away in 2003 and my parents were devastated. My Dad had not yet retired and so my mom was alone all day in the house and severely depressed. In 2004 she decided (against my Dad's wishes) to get a dog on the pretense it was actually going to be for my daughter ~ although we lived about 65 miles away in another city.

In 2008 my Mom suffered a devastating brain aneurysm. She survived but her short term memory was destroyed and her long term memory was frazzled but while still in ICU she began asking for Sneakers. The hospital actually asked me to bring him to see her. My mom lived on in a care home until April last year when she passed on from liver and ovarian cancer.

Sneakers, I believe saved my Mom after my brother died ~ gave her a reason to get up every day.

ps: My Dad is Sneaky's BFF and spoils him silly!

Just to clarify--I am NOT defending Jodi Arias! I just see a lot of weak points in Martinez's case so far and I don't want to see him blow this.

    To your points:
    a) she had limited time off
    b) it's scary driving across the middle of nowhere esp if running low on gas
    c) I could be wrong but I don't think GPS was that common in 2008
    d) there were probably a lot more jobs in Mesa than Yreka

I respectfully disagree with this with the disclaimer that I could be very wrong. I wouldn't even begin to know where to look for the information, but I believe Travis "sold" her the BMW when she left Mesa and moved back to Yreka. Wasn't that in March 2008 or so? I think he sold her the BMW because she could no longer afford the Infiniti and it was going to be repossessed, so he was doing her a solid by selling her the BMW and was nice enough to let her make lower payments (my opinion). Of course we all know the BMW got fucked up somehow by her leaving it in gear on the UHaul driving to Yreka. So, basically the BMW was useless to her anyway. I do remember her saying on the stand that she didn't take her car because it was gas guzzler and she wanted to save money on fuel, so maybe it was the Infiniti she was referring to. I do not know the timeline on this.

Wasn't the Infinity gone by then? Wasn't the whole reason that Travis sold her his BMW and allowed her to make payments because she could not afford the Infinity anymore?

    a) she had limited time off but she still took 16 hours to go to AZ to kill Travis (screams obsession to me)
    b) it's scary driving across the middle of nowhere esp if running low on gas ~ but she WASN'T driving across middle of nowhere. She knew she was going to Mesa. Shut her phone off before entering AZ and after leaving turned it back on ~ the FOG lifted apparently when she realized she was out of AZ
    c) I could be wrong but I don't think GPS was that common in 2008 ~ handheld GPS devices were common but more importantly MapQuest, Google Maps etc were readily avail
    d) there were probably a lot more jobs in Mesa than Yreka ~ you got me on that one but I'm sure it had more to do with her hoping if she moved 1000 miles away taking away the SEX he would come crawling back to her
