I missed the part about Jodi's height. What was the purpose of that? That she couldn't commit a murder that she already admitted too, because she was too short?

I was looking the other day at Jodi's sister's myspace, for any interesting pictures. There's one of the whole family. Sister, Angela I think it is, described herself as 5'7''. Jodi was significantly taller than her. Jodi was wearing some strappy sandals, that based on the look couldn't have been more than 2'' wedge heels. Even then, she was 3-4 inches taller. Point being? She was probably 5'6'' or 5'7'' if she was an inch.

The way Travis is talking in the sex tape sounds like a boy just losing his virginity. Seriously. He sounds like talking dirty is something new to him. Also, is this a new tape? A lot of the things he said are new to me. Doesn't sound like the things he was saying a few weeks ago.

So, JVM had on a guest who was some sort of women's abuse expert and they were saying that Jodi is trying to show on the stand that despite what an "abuser" Travis was, she was still trying to protect him.

She was trying to protect him? Was she protecting him when she slaughtered him? When she made up all these lies and accusations that he can't defend himself from?

The only person Jodi is trying to protect is herself, from lethal injection.

Jodi wanted to hang onto Travis because he took care of her, he paid her bills, he took her on trips, and because he made her feel beautiful and desired. He fed her ego. And then he had enough and wanted out, and she didn't want to lose a person who treated her like a "goddess", her words.

Yes. I find the judges' allowing of it bizarre. In retrospect, if I were on the jury I'd be hugely insulted at this snide move by the defence. I hope the jury done a lot of writing here as that script will not be allowed into the jury room on deliberation. Method in the judge's 'madness' (to coin a phrase)? Be interesting to read the observations of those 'jury watching' later on.

I've no idea if he has ALREADY defended any - but know that he absolutely will in his new practice as a Sexual Offender Defender. Whether he has/hasn't, it has no relevance to this case whatsoever.

Since when is it not an enjoyable part of sex to want to give pleasure to the person you're having it with and to take pleasure from doing that? Where does Nurmi get this notion that sex is all about one person only taking and the other person only giving/sacrificing. Makes me think that Nurmi has only experienced pig sex.

Nurmi's references make me think of the sex scenes in those old Italian Fellini Movies from the fifties, (Sex Italian Style), where in the sex scenes there is a crucifix hanging on the wall at the head of the bed and the sacrificing wife crosses herself before she allows her husband in. This guy is more illiterate about sex than any observant Mormon. I used to know guys like him back in the day. He can't expect a modern day juror to fall for this. Can he? Bizarre!!!

All in all, I think this has been a really bad day for the defence. Going over all the same crap from before with a few sneaky additions, which I sincerely hope is clanging in the jury's ears. Nurmi is desperately un-organised. I may be off the mark, but I'm convinced his bumbling and sloth-like movement is deliberate. He has a team with him, why aren't at least ONE of them organised? I think he's been pretty despicable with his sneaky and snide presentations today (yes I understand he has a job to do), but his 'be so kind' comments, etc., are baiting. If I were in need of a defender and watching this case, this man wouldn't be my choice. Noticed Jodi helpfully just skimming over Nurmi's exhibits, maybe her eyesight improves when he's near.

Juan appeared to be seething today, I believe Nurmi's 'tactics' infuriated him. He was like a dog out of a trap on the re-cross. I hope to hell there's only one more day of her on the stand. Today was like watching a replay of a replay, with an additional wee lie or two and snide. Not one 'swear' word did I utter over the w/end, ( till I checked out last night's thread and watched another replay x100 of same old, with the usual suspect(s)). I've kept my cyber-tourettes in check today,and though it's bubbling away at the surface, I'm trying to be good.

It seems that re-cross is legal in AZ at least, but it's up to the judge to decide. Considering that she's allowed this highly-edited tape to be presented, I'm not highly optimistic about Martinez's chances of getting to question Jodi again.

Generally, I don't think this tape and the re-direct in general is going to have a huge effect on the jury, unless they have short-term memory loss and can only remember the most recent things presented to them. They know they have heard this tape before, unedited, and that Jodi admitted to initiating a lot and enjoying it. They also just saw her destroyed on the stand by Martinez for the last week.

I have to assume that the defense believes they are going to bore the jury into losing focus and not paying attention, so that they can capitalize on presenting the more recent "evidence".

I think -- at least I hope -- the jury is not as dumb and inattentive as the defense would like them to be.

Diary-Travis was a big part of Jodi's life. The law of attraction is the reason she wouldn't put anything negative in her diary. Oh shit, now Jodi is talking about science issues. Don't focus, read, or write about any negative things. Why wouldn't you write about him jacking off? Well, there are a lot of reasons. The biggest was she couldn't picture writing it down. She thought it would come back to haunt her. Mormon's are big on record keeping (reason # 28976 that Jodi is not a good Mormon) In the past, Travis made her tear out negative things she wrote about him.

Even after sidebars and other disruptions she would still have no problem immediately answering the questions. What a stark contrast to her continual "forgetting" the question with JM and needing it restated or read back to her. I can't imagine the Jury NOT seeing these huge differences in her persona.

I am actually thrilled with today's testimony. After JM's amazing cross, the defense comes back with another day of rehashing the sex talk. The defense appears to be trying a sex abuse case, while the prosecution is trying first degree murder. This case is self defense vs pre-meditated murder. If the defense had a strong self defense case, they wouldn't be spending all their time on tootsie pops, wake-up oral, and journals with nothing incriminating in them.

True, though to be fair, she and Nurmi have probably spent hours upon hours pouring over his questions for her and practicing her answers back to him, so she had more than a good idea of what was going to happen.

What is so disturbing is that the victim, Travis Alexander, is not here to defend himself against all JA's lies. She is so low to do this to his memory. All she can do is trash him. Wasn't she satisfied murdering him?

I hope that the jurors remember her memory lapses from the cross examination and how much improved it is during this (insane) redirect. She can easily remember 2007 today but last week didn't remember if she ate a banana before or after sex with Travis.

We didn't get to hear the whole thing because NG cut him off.. but it sounds like he is eluding that Jodi stabbed him as a means of blood atonement for his sins and that if she talked about that the Mormon church would be after her and her life would be in danger so the 2nd story she told during the interrogation about the man and woman is the real true story. That is what I think he is trying to say... Bryan Carr that is.

The significant thing he said just as NG cut him off is that Jodi's "number two story is the right one," (the Ninja story.) I heard that clearly. He prefaced that with some garble about blood atonement and I got the impression he was saying Jodi was paying this atonement for some reason for other and that's why she's falsely confessed to killing Travis.

Frankly, he sounds like a total loon and not a very articulate one. Other than bringing up the Ninja stuff, I had no idea what he was talking about. More importantly, neither does he.
