In the shower? I think that is part blood and also the shower drain. I remember at first they were censoring that part on CNN because they thought it was his balls.

Great catch, now I'm hunting for that autopsy pic of his chest wounds to see if we can tell. Wouldn't you know I run into it any day but now when I want it.

This one was taken, in sequence, after the close up shot of his face....and I believe that is the drain that people are seeing. I'm thinking that if he'd already been attacked in this shot, we'd be seeing blood that would be either spattered or streaming down his chest? I assumed those were moles in this pic. Also, his arms still appear to be somewhat relaxed. I could be wrong but I would think she probably initiated the attack shortly after this pic was snapped.

Also, good eye on those spots on his chest. They do look like moles but I don't think he had those. I really think she might have stabbed him already at this point

do we know if he was stabbed in the back first? i know i read something about that here but i don't recall if it was speculation or from the ME. i should watch the ME testify, i haven't.

For some reason and I'm not sure if I just made it up and thought that or if someone said so, but I thought he was stabbed in the heart first. He runs to the sink and coughs up blood while his back is turned and she starts the psycho stabbing.

no way to know that, the ME wouldn't even say what he was stabbed with, other than "a sharp object'.
Found the chest pick but that can't define anything because of the wounds and skin slippage. I think they are moles because if that was blood, I am sure Martinez would have pointed that out when he entered the picture under the ME testimony.

i remember hearing that he had coughed up blood on the mirror, and that seems easy enough to prove. hrmm, so that could be from the front or the back i would assume. i'm sure she got some lung shots in there, too.

Maybe you dreamt it just kidding. Can't say 'first' because the only seq the ME addressed was re: the three fatal wounds. That leaves 27 others to be 'first' some down to the bone.

I remember the ME testifying that he had a deep stab on his right side, through the rib cage, which punctured his lung, would be very consistent with him coughing up the blood, also his right side would have been exposed to Jodi in the beginning stages of the attack.

but the vena cava (not ribcage btw but inbetween) was a straight in stab with a very slight upward. With him sitting down, if she stabbed him sitting, it would have been downward and probably by a lot.

ME said the coughing blood could be either the vena cava or the sinus from the gun shot.

? and then the one to the heart is that .. which one of these .. least fatal most fatal
laugh, shakes head, probably the middle
ah, its a significant injury, it would definately cause death without medical attention
? would that cause unconsciousness immediately
yes, ah, not immediately, not the chest wound, no
? what I hear you say of the three we talked about ..2 throat and shot to head would cause unconsciousness quickly?
    Immediate
    ?Immediate
    Ya, yes
? and the one to chest would not
    Less likely

oh and the ME never said a punctured lung. I did a word search on his testimony again to make sure and lung doesn't come up.

and he lists nothing like that in his report.

There are no areas of induration, consolidation, hemorrhage or gross scarring. The pulmonary vessels are patent and of normal caliber

    Wasn't the pericardial sac punctured?

I'm really surprised it didn't hit his lung. I had a needle go in too far near my collarbone and it punctured my lung. Completely debilitates you. You can feel the pain shoot down your chest and arm and it takes the breath out of you. Worst thing ever.

Getting a chest tube put in is horrifying too. They go in between your rib cage (vena cava?) and have to stick it through the muscle. More painful than childbirth.

I just can't see with those debilitating stabs that she would feel the need to continue. That should show that she went 'above and beyond' and it was cruel.

The ME testimony was around day 3-4 of the trial. I remember him testifying that one of the stab wounds to the chest could have possibly nicked a lung, but he could not determine any such nick because of the state of decomposition of the body and internal organs. I think he was testifying as to how the blood drops and spatter around the sink could have gotten there.

back wounds stop at the bones, and the only deep wound to the chest was the one that cut the vena cava.

We have nine injuries, and they are all clustered together there in the center. Ah, what you're seeing on the upper left side is actually post mortem artifact. there's some skin slippage there and some drying.
Nine. They are stab wounds. They're all about the same depth, about an inch deep. and they're going into the back parts of the ribs and the spine. The spinal bone and stopping there. and none of them to my exam entered the chest cavity. although with decomposition you can't completely rule that out.
1:24:47 But, appear to all have been stopped by the bones.

Word search brings only this mention up for "pericardial"

A 1 Yo inch oblique stab wound of the paramldline right chest, with penetration /
perforation of the costochondral Junction near the sternum at the level of the 3,d
and 4th right ribs; the wound extends to a maximal depth of approximately 3 Y,
inches with penetration of the superior vena cava near the base of the heart, with
a small amount of surrounding hemorrhagic in the mediastinal soft tissues and
the pericardial sac of the heart; a portion of the costochondral cartilage
encompassing the stab wound is excised and retained at the FSC for potential
    further analysis.

the LE camera guy said that because these pics were taken from thumbnails the were retrieved, so when they were blown up the quality was very bad, thats why there is all that weird shading that might look like blood - its just distortion in the shading

wasn't there some one who explained very early on, that there was different types of blood depending on where it came from in the body and thats how the knew the blood was from the chest wound?? certain blood was darker or lighter depending on what vein or artery??

He condition everything with decomp repeatedly. But Martinez question again and ME said

But needless, they didn't go through the bone, right?
