Humor can be very painful and tragic, laughing can be very close to sadness, comedy is tragedy. The trial has become something of a farce at this point, with the intimate parts of people's lives now part of the public domain and popular culture. Like it or not, the people involved with the trial have become larger than life characters. I think humor is one way to put across a message, get people's attention, and make you think. Some of the best comedy is extremely offensive.

My real intention is to stimulate discussion of what do you think went down, from Travis's perspective? We have heard from every other person. Share your thoughts.

I did not find your original post offensive. And, from reading and hearing about the type of guy Travis was, I really don't believe he would think it was offensive. I believe Travis would be offended by the countless people screaming for Jodi to fry or how she deserves to be tortured. I believe Travis would be offended by the body shaming done to Jodi. Remember when someone made a comment about his penis and the hell that poster received? But, everyone is on the body shaming train for Jodi. I believe Travis would be offended that some people don't think Jodi deserves to eat or have sleep. I believe Travis would be offended by much more than what coconut posted.

Travis seemed like he had a good sense of humor. I truly believe he would appreciate the efforts of coconut to try to debrief with a little bit of humor. I don't believe the post was to disrespect, dehumanize, or discount Travis in ANY way. Of course his last moments were terrifying and painful. Travis was a religious man. If he is where his faith says he is, then I can see the portrayal going exactly like coconut displayed, in Travis' (hypothetical)words. I think Travis would find it somewhat comical while depicting the actual event. He seemed like he enjoyed skits, from viewing some of his PPL videos. I truly believe Travis would rather his friends, family, and other people who have been brought together over his tragedy, have a little fun, not be so serious, and show kindness to others.

He was obviously a good person in the whole scheme of things. I have my own opinion of who is was in the small scheme, but I also believe Travis knows these things as he knew he wasn't perfect. He helped Jodi without hesitation. He knew he didn't have to help her, but he was a good person. Like I said, in the whole scheme of things.

Also, as a person who has worked with death on the regular; through autopsies, emergency medicine, and organ donation, I can assure you there are inappropriate remarks made every single day. It is a human mechanism. It's a debrief. Sometimes the best way to get through a difficult time is to display some humor. I am guilty of this. I get in an uncomfortable situation and it's time to bust out a joke and/or be sarcastic. It doesn't mean I'm an asshole. It means I'm human.

My point to this whole ramble is I really don't believe Travis would be up in arms over the post. Of course, I didn't know him, but what I know of him, I think he would be more up in arms over the way Jodi has been treated. However, I do believe he would want justice. I'm saying I think he would be upset over, as a human being, she is being treated. This goes for all life, not just Jodi.

I am not a Jodi supporter, btw.

    Sorry tl;dr

Also, someone else said she closed his eyes. Did she say this or was it assumed? I thought (based on references to the full face autopsy photo that has not been posted here) that his eyes were open.
I don't know if she closed his eyes or he did. But his eyes are clearly closed in crime scene photos. I honestly don't think there is a eye-open photo. People on the thread have continued to ask for it to be published but it never was. Is it even possible to have them stay open if he is dead? (<-- not being sarcastic.)

Good post. Though I want to point out noone called Coconut an asshole and I reiterated I respected his opinion, just like I do yours. It's good to see other people's perspectives on such things. I refuse to speculate on what Travis would have thought/done because I don't know him and am not close to anyone who did. Just like I don't blame anyone for using humour in this kind of situation, I can't fully blame people for saying nasty things about Jodi. It's a highly emotional case and it upsets some more than others. Their way of dealing with those emotions is to be angry and lash out at the person to blame. Human nature I guess.

Also I'm with you on the drink.

I wasn't alluding that coconut is an asshole for his/her post. I was meaning in general. I also respect other people's opinions and appreciate your previous post in regards to it. Just as you don't see the humor, others don't see the humor in the Jodi bashing. You make a great point this case is highly emotional, which makes a great example of why some humor can/is appropriate (my opinion, of course). Ever been to a funeral when you have been speaking of the deceased and start sharing funny stories and everyone busts out laughing? It's not disrespectful. Not saying you would think it is, just trying to come up with another example.

Your last two sentences are also great points that I was trying to express in my previous post. Except instead of being angry and lashing out, celebrating Travis' life in the way he lived; playful and caring.

As for the speculation; it's done on the daily with Jodi.

I'm trying not to come across as being argumentative here. Because I'm not trying to argue. I understand lashing out at Jodi. It is human nature. We want to protect the victim. I guess I'm playing devils advocate. I'm not the greatest with trying to express myself in type.

I don't find your posts to be argumentative. I don't particularly enjoy the Jodi bashing, purely because it takes so much space up in this thread and the same shit ends up being repeated a hundred times over. That and the fact that no matter what is said, it cannot change the outcome of this trial and it doesn't change what happened. This is also why I don't like to speculate either. I understand the need to know and understand what happened but I find that you just end up going in circles, especially when the only two people who truly know what went down are dead and "forgetful". I think whilst the trial is going on and having to hear/see particularly gruesome details, it can be hard for people to see any humour where the victim is concerned. Same goes for celebrating his life. This is what I meant about his family, we see them most days looking absolutely distraught, angry and defeated at times. I think it will be easier for them to celebrate his life when they have justice. I commend them on being in that court everyday, it takes alot of strength.

I had a bunch of other stuff to say but it's almost 2am here and I'm not really seeing straight anymore so I think I'll pass on that drink

LOL this trial coverage is on at least 3 channels tonight. Dateline NBC, AC360 on CNN & of course Nancy Grace on HLN.

I watched this a few times and I don't think it was a smile. I would call it a grimace - the kind of face so many of us make when crying. I often thought Jodi's crying looked fake because her face was not distorted in this way.

    I wholeheartedly agree with this.

I'm sure being there is pure torture and heartache. I like to think (and this is speculation) they speak of Travis on the way home from court and say, 'remember that one time when he.....,' and they just start crack up laughing. I hope they leave court and are able to smile. I hope they don't go to sleep each night with the current days trial events in their minds. I know it's wishful thinking, but I think it's possible they can go to sleep thinking of Travis in a positive light.

I also understand what you are saying in the rest of your post.

Like you said before it's a highly emotional case and we are all only human.

This post will be lost in probably 20 pages when you wake. So, it was nice talking to you.

I feel no emotion when Jodi is supposedly crying but as soon as they go to the shot of his friends and family, it gets me

I hope that too for their sakes. It can't be easy.

And I know right? Atleast on non-trial days it's abit slower. I'd have 60+ pages to contend with if it wasn't. Lovely talking to you

Chucking a pot isn't the same as getting in personal and cutting someone! That shit is a whole different ballgame. Hell, if she only shot him I wouldn't be where I am right now.I'd totally believe that.

The last photo of Travis was taken when he was SITTING DOWN in the shower [as per Flores]. That is the position he was in when Arias administered the first blow to the heart. It was probably here that he tried to fight her off, hence the defensive wounds to his hands. Travis then stumbled or crawled to the sink where he coughed up blood. Arias then stabbed him to the head and back. He probably tried to defend himself here as well. He then turned and made his way to the door, collapsed and crawled to get away from her. She pulled his head back while he was on all fours and slit his throat, nearly decapitated him.

Arias probably coached Travis to sit down, so he would be even more vulnerable. She wanted him to bleed out in the shower. In other words, to put it bluntly "no mess, no fuss". BUT, she did not count on the fact that he would defend himself and get out. She now had to fight him to the death, otherwise, if he lived to tell, she would be behind bars. He got out, weak, wet and bleeding. He needed to get to his feet, but could not, due to slipping from a combination of water and blood pumping out of his chest wound and mouth. The only way he was able to get to his feet was to grab onto something and pull himself up. THE SINK. Whilst on his feet, she STABBED HIM IN THE BACK AND HEAD. He turned and ‘ran’, collapsing halfway, she pulled his head back and slit his throat.

As he lay dying [or dead] she shot him in the head.

Her desire was to KILL him. The only problem came when she saw he did not die with the first chest stab.

Arias' goal was to plan and execute the perfect, premeditated murder. She would go to his house, soften him up, get him in the shower with water running, coerce him to sit and stab him in the heart. She hoped he would bleed out and die in the shower cubicle, that way the running water would have cleaned his body from dna, bodily fluids, etc. She would then leave immediately and get on with her alibi building – calling and leaving texts.

She DID NOT COUNT ON TRAVIS GETTING UP AFTER THE FIRST STAB WOUND.

I hope this helps put things in perspective for those who asked. Travis posed willingly in the shower. Arias is not superwoman and in no way could she focus a camera [in one hand] whilst holding a knife/gun [in the other].
I won't feel sorry for me, I'm getting drunk
But I'd much rather be somewhere with you
