I did not find your original post offensive. And, from reading and hearing about the type of guy Travis was, I really don't believe he would think it was offensive. I believe Travis would be offended by the countless people screaming for Jodi to fry or how she deserves to be tortured. I believe Travis would be offended by the body shaming done to Jodi. Remember when someone made a comment about his penis and the hell that poster received? But, everyone is on the body shaming train for Jodi. I believe Travis would be offended that some people don't think Jodi deserves to eat or have sleep. I believe Travis would be offended by much more than what coconut posted.
Travis seemed like he had a good sense of humor. I truly believe he would appreciate the efforts of coconut to try to debrief with a little bit of humor. I don't believe the post was to disrespect, dehumanize, or discount Travis in ANY way. Of course his last moments were terrifying and painful. Travis was a religious man. If he is where his faith says he is, then I can see the portrayal going exactly like coconut displayed, in Travis' (hypothetical)words. I think Travis would find it somewhat comical while depicting the actual event. He seemed like he enjoyed skits, from viewing some of his PPL videos. I truly believe Travis would rather his friends, family, and other people who have been brought together over his tragedy, have a little fun, not be so serious, and show kindness to others.
He was obviously a good person in the whole scheme of things. I have my own opinion of who is was in the small scheme, but I also believe Travis knows these things as he knew he wasn't perfect. He helped Jodi without hesitation. He knew he didn't have to help her, but he was a good person. Like I said, in the whole scheme of things.
Also, as a person who has worked with death on the regular; through autopsies, emergency medicine, and organ donation, I can assure you there are inappropriate remarks made every single day. It is a human mechanism. It's a debrief. Sometimes the best way to get through a difficult time is to display some humor. I am guilty of this. I get in an uncomfortable situation and it's time to bust out a joke and/or be sarcastic. It doesn't mean I'm an asshole. It means I'm human.
My point to this whole ramble is I really don't believe Travis would be up in arms over the post. Of course, I didn't know him, but what I know of him, I think he would be more up in arms over the way Jodi has been treated. However, I do believe he would want justice. I'm saying I think he would be upset over, as a human being, she is being treated. This goes for all life, not just Jodi.
I am not a Jodi supporter, btw.
Sorry tl;dr
I need a drink
