Impossible that she would have been able to put out of her head all that she knew happened that day, while trying to make up a story out of whole cloth.

For example, the part where she said the gun jammmed, "or whatever," when the ninja WOMAN tried to fire, followed up with "I (Jodie) didn't know much about handguns THAT DAY." I had visions of her standing over Travis, trying to get off a shot when, "Oh shit!" Then there was the part where she described him being on his knees, by the shower door(like one of the last pics she took of him in the shower), and describing helping Travis to "escape," dragging him halfway down the hall way, helping to explain the blood streaked along the walls. It was as though she was telling the truth, just re-casting the characters.
I agree. I feel those parts actually happened too. It is chilling to watch. The car makes it sound premeditated.

If her sister or brother in law rented the car, LE would have picked that up. I'm sure if they don't find it under the suspect's name, it's SOP to check family and close friends. I could be wrong.

But I'm sure she'd much rather have family, people she feels she can somewhat trust, know she is renting a car rather than nosy neighbors, friends, acquaintances in Yreka. And I still can't believe her "it's cheaper" reasoning, as she had to drive 2 hours to get there, and as Jodi would tell us, gas in CA is very expensive. After all, that WAS her bs reasoning for borrowing the gas cans from Darryl, to fill up in Utah or NV (which she never did).

You keep saying that, and yes it can be irritating (the labouring issues) BUT, he needs to discredit all her shit lies Nurmi covered for 8 days, he can't just cut to the chase. The Judge should be taking control of her obstructive 'answering' pattern. I cannot wait to see the tack her answers will take when she's being questioned on the forensics and timeline.

Not sure that I liked him, but I definitely felt for him not getting out of taking this case. Not any longer, the actions of him and his 'team' I've found pretty repulsive, I think they're trying to influence the jury. Neither can I stand the fact he's going into practise defending sexual offenders. I understand some people will be wrongly accused, but those will be the minority, imo.

Though most are. There's a lot of paedophiles and rapists (maybe not US sp?) out there that need defending. IMO you have to be a certain kind of person to take on that work. Defenders' don't usually make their 'bread and butter' from the innocent.

Depriving these types of individuals from the freedom to pursue happiness and having to live the rest of their days being told when they can eat, shit, and sleep is the ultimate justice. However, in JA's case, because she is so fucked in the head that she appears to happily thrive like a cockroach wherever, life in prison wouldn't really be a punishment for her. I say juice the goofy bitch!
I can't say I'm for the DP as it's supposed to be anathema to us, the 'non-barbaric' UK. We're kind of up our own arses that way. Contrarily, in certain cases I wish we did, so i'm not best qualified to say for or agin. I'll be satisfied if she gets LWOP.
O/T, You asked for some Scottish names/sayings as to what we'd have for Jodi here. I spent a bit of time giving you a lot of funny, and not so nice sayings, only for the bugger to not get posted! It was about three weeks ago and I was getting something along the lines of 'post is in moderation'. I was gutted, so much so I emailed MDS from my own email, LOL! To be fair, they replied! I'll do it again when I can be arsed, I should've saved it, even for future use for others!

**Justice, I don't know how I've lost your quote, but I totally agree on the DT trying to influence the jury.

I've mostly listened to the trial today, minimising my screen, except when JM's playing tapes or showing excerpts of chat scripts, etc. I'm sick of looking at her smirking face and I'm finding i'm not getting so wound up.

I always watch alone in another room, I've got my friend hooked, she's watching and we talk about it on the 'phone or instant chat on fb. Around 6.15pm here I had my headphones on, around time JM's talking about pussy etc. I'm ic'ing friend like mad, whose calling Jodi for everything. I'd used c*** twice, loads of others, but that was the worst, geting carried away with the chat in a way you wouldn't 'outside'. Or inside actually. I just about wet myself when my OH tapped my shoulder, I hadn't a clue he was in. He'd been reading over my shoulder said 'charming' n kinda just looked at me. WHAT?? It's only a word, i'm not 'really' saying it, bla mortified bla. Then he pointed to what I'd said about Juan. I'd wrote a lot of ehm, nice things about Juan. He's not spoken to me since, I kid you not. On another note, I'm trying to get my friend to register here, but she's too 'shy'.

The gun probably did misfire or jam or perhaps she didn't know how to chamber a bullet. I suspect she is telling the truth about the shot coming first and then the gun jammed or Travis managed to knock it away. The stabbing slit neck show it was a rage killing so if the gun hadn't misfired, she would have continued firing until it was empty. JMNSHO

I'm sure the police would've checked relatives, but if the paperwork was in their name not Jodi's, and she didn't go in to the rental place, there would be no way to actually prove they didn't drive it themselves, but gave it to Jodi instead. The only verification would be the people who saw the car in Utah, and that wouldn't really be solid evidence, like the rental papers and the rental guy who witnessed Jodi doing the rental. They could still link the car to her of course, but it looks a lot worse if it's in her name.

I would like to know exactly what she told the person who drove her to the rental car place though. Surely no one with any form of common sense would buy the "it's cheaper to drive 200 miles round trip to rent a car in another city" bs. So, what did she tell the person? And didn't they find this all suspicious? I know I would've questioned it.

Doesn't matter. If you can show you're trying to earn money in a business (Schedule C) you can deduct expenses. The loss can offset other income i.e. wages.

All of the "overkill," the *extra* stab wounds, probably came from her being so PISSED OFF at the gun jamming.

After you kill someone, wouldn't you think to get rid of ALL the evidence?? Fuck your taxes if that were reason. Investigators probably wouldn't have had as much stopping for gas/gas can, Starbucks, McD's, Walmary K-Y evidence if she just gotten rid of the receipts. That is pure speculation on my part of course.

Well, her receipts included things like face wash and toiletries from Walmart and CVS I believe. Could she really write those off? Otherwise, why keep those receipts? I could buy writing off clothing and gas for business expenses, but personal care items? I dunno.

The way Jodi likes to blather on and on about this, that, and the other, she probably would have an epic story as to why it was cheaper, smarter, more efficient, whatever and any one of us on the receiving end of that bullshit would check-out mentally and start remembering fondly our last gyno exam, root canal, Chinese water torture or similar.

That makes sense. I never knew why the pink, except to assume he thought it was emasculating for the prisoners.

Maybe she was keeping some of it for souvenirs? I mean, it sounds demented to keep souvenirs from crimes, but many criminals (usually killers) do.
