Her entire recounting of the "ninja story" gave me chills. It was almost as though she was weaving parts of what actually happened that day into her fabrication. Impossible that she would have been able to put out of her head all that she knew happened that day, while trying to make up a story out of whole cloth.

For example, the part where she said the gun jammmed, "or whatever," when the ninja WOMAN tried to fire, followed up with "I (Jodie) didn't know much about handguns THAT DAY." I had visions of her standing over Travis, trying to get off a shot when, "Oh shit!" Then there was the part where she described him being on his knees, by the shower door(like one of the last pics she took of him in the shower), and describing helping Travis to "escape," dragging him halfway down the hall way, helping to explain the blood streaked along the walls. It was as though she was telling the truth, just re-casting the characters.

I agree. I feel those parts actually happened too. It is chilling to watch. The car makes it sound premeditated.

No, it was on her way. I was thinking she didn't want someone to know she was renting a car, but then her sister and brother-in-law in Redding knew. Yreka is pretty far north.

You keep saying that, and yes it can be irritating (the labouring issues) BUT, he needs to discredit all her shit lies Nurmi covered for 8 days, he can't just cut to the chase. IMO there are some ppl that a life sentence is a better punishment than the DP. A few examples are Drew Peterson, Susan Smith, & Casey Anthony (had she been convicted). They basically killed to rid themselves of what they considered obstacles that kept them from doing what they wanted to do. Depriving these types of individuals from the freedom to pursue happiness and having to live the rest of their days being told when they can eat, shit, and sleep is the ultimate justice. However, in JA's case, because she is so fucked in the head that she appears to happily thrive like a cockroach wherever, life in prison wouldn't really be a punishment for her. I'm sure the police would've checked relatives, but if the paperwork was in their name not Jodi's, and she didn't go in to the rental place, there would be no way to actually prove they didn't drive it themselves, but gave it to Jodi instead. The only verification would be the people who saw the car in Utah, and that wouldn't really be solid evidence, like the rental papers and the rental guy who witnessed Jodi doing the rental. They could still link the car to her of course, but it looks a lot worse if it's in her name.

Surely no one with any form of common sense would buy the "it's cheaper to drive 200 miles round trip to rent a car in another city" bs. So, what did she tell the person? Doesn't matter. If you can show you're trying to earn money in a business (Schedule C) you can deduct expenses. The loss can offset other income i.e. wages.
