I would not be shocked to discover that Travis owned a handgun - in spite of his friends having all denied it. But what convinces me that he did not is that I don't believe any manwould own a 25 as a single weapon. That's considered a woman's small handgun suitable for conceilment in a purse etc. IMO

I think everyone is CAPABLE of something awful - most of us have enough moral compass and mental composure to walk away and avoid those situations. But very regular and good people have done heinous things. No one person is all "good" - we all have a bit of bad in us. Heck, during this trial I've had some pretty bad thoughts towards Jodi. But most of us don't follow through on those thoughts. Nor is it usually just a flip-a-switch kind of thing. There is usually something that leads to it. Or something that has built up over time. Whether that something is abuse in the past, or anger from something current...or many other things.

Gotta say - I have a closet like Travis' with the wood shelving. I once, stupidly, decided not to get my stool and stepped gently on one of the shelves. Thing completely broke under my weight (I'm about Jodi's shape, but taller). If she was jumping up it in a hurry that shelf would have been completely busted!!!

I think the pictures proove he did NOT lunge for the camera. Look at the series of pictures that Jodi took of Travis in the shower....there are two photos taken between the close up of his face (he is staring straight into the camera...shower door is closed) and the one of the bathroom ceiling. In both of those photos, only his torso can be seen. The shower door is open. Yet, Travis is still clearly seated in the bottom of the shower. He has not moved his position since the close up was taken. The testimony in court was that those torso photos were not taken intentionally....and the angle of the camera seems to indicate the camera was positioned downward. If the camera was falling, Travis' instinct would have been to reach out and lunge. Yet, he is sitting in the bottom of the shower, his arms still resting on his knees. Seconds later, the photo of the ceiling, followed by the one of his bloody body. I believe that he looked up to see her pointing a gun at him....that is why he has such a stunned look on his face, and why he continues to sit passively in the shower. While he was staring at the gun, she stabbed him in the chest with the knife. Premeditated, cold blooded murder.

-When the Bishop told her Travis was dead she sobbed really hard and bent over and could not stand up. We are supposed to feel sorry for how she felt when she found out that the man she butchered was dead? Is this really what Jodi and Nurmi are asking of us??
-I noticed Jodi's attempt at convincing us she is crying and upset really picked up after lunch. I wonder if someone on the defense team had a talk with her and told her she is going to have to put more effort into selling it.
-Jodi first said that she got the gun as part of her plan to commit suicide. Now she is saying that the idea of shooting herself didn't occur to her until after she had the gun. Huh?

-Jodi said that in her interviews with Flores she didn't know she could just be quiet. That an "attorney" had told her to just deny everything. I seriously doubt an attorney would tell her it was okay to talk to the police as long as she just denied everything. But then again...she might have heard this from a PPL attorney, so who knows?
-Notice how she slipped in there that Flores was a Mormon. I think she is hoping that if anyone holds anything against her for being a Mormon they will hold it against Flores too. Maybe not...I just felt like she really wanted to "out" him for being a Mormon.
-Jodi said she felt like she had "no future" and that there was no point in airing Travis' flaws and bringing him down. Well, she is literally on trial for a murder she admitted to and is facing the possibility of a death sentence. But now she feels, what, "hopeful" for her future? Now it is okay to trash Travis' reputation? Her lies make NO sense. The truth is she felt there was no reason to air her own dirty laundry, but now that it is all out there, she is wanting to bring Travis down even harder.
-She was going to commit suicide by taking Advil -over several days- and then cut her wrists and bleed out. But, after a paper cut like nick with the razor blade, "it stung so badly" that she just couldn't go through with it. I can't even believe the words coming out of her mouth. After the 27 stabs and the throat slashing she gave to Travis, she is talking about the "pain" from a paper cut???? I don't even know what to say to that. Unbelievable.
-At one point Jodi said there was "no malice" in their sex life. Or something along those lines. I think she slips up and accidentally says a few things that are truthful. This one really stuck out to me. Considering a big part of her defense is that Travis is a sexual deviant who rapes her and lusts after little kids to the point that she dresses up like a child to help him with his urges, this just defies all logic.
-I'll jump to the ending because at this point I was in my car. It seemed that Nurmi wanted her to say that she admitted the truth about what "she remembered" happening that day and about Travis beating her and being a sexual defiant. Martinez objected and Nurmi had to ask again. All I remember is Jodi saying she confessed and Nurmi saying he didn't have anymore questions. Usually when Jodi doesn't answer a question exactly the way Nurmi wants her to, he will ask her 5,000 different ways until she finally says what he wants. It was odd the way he closed. I kind of felt like he was just throwing his hands up and saying, "eff Jodi, if you can't get it right, I'm sick of forcing it out of you."
-I can't wait until tomorrow. I will be saying some prayers for Martinez tonight!

Thanks QT. I think there are bits and pieces where a person could wonder about premeditation. It's natural I think.
We, as a society, I think, tend to believe most murders (aside from serial killers or mob hits!) are crimes of passion or crimes of opportunity. Someone got pissed and lashed out. Or someone inadvertently killed someone else in the commission of a crime; like say, armed robbery of a gas station where someone didn't intend to pull the trigger, but did so.
It's very hard, I think, for the average person to wrap their mind around a murder in general, and very much so in this case. The average person doesn't think about plotting and planning a murder, much less following through with it. We all possess consciences, a sense of right and wrong, actions and consequences.
A murderer's mind isn't constrained by those things. It's hard for us all to put ourselves in their shoes, so we think, well maybe it wasn't planned, it was a heat of the moment thing.
It's a scary thought, that there are people out there, people like Jodi, who can plan something out like this, and spend days (maybe even weeks) thinking about doing it. And at no point in their mind does a warning bell go off, saying "Hey! This is taking a human life!! This is wrong!! You can't do this to another person!! No amount of feeling jealous or used can justify doing something like this!!"
Murderers and would-be murderers lack those feelings, those barriers, where common sense comes in and tells them "no matter how angry you are, you can't kill someone over this".
In a way, it is fascinating. To imagine someone so cold and detached that they can plan this sort of thing out, and actually go through with it. I know that we have all had some point in time where we were very, very angry. Maybe angry enough to say "I could kill you!" But, I think it is very few of us who actually think that is a reasonable response and could actually go through with such an act.
Jodi is one of those people who pushed well past those moral, ethical and legal boundaries.

Phew... Awaited her testimony all along, then dreaded every single minute of it. Between Nurmi & his absolute asinine attempt at being an attorney (in a death penalty case, no less). His repeating of practically everything she says, and making her repeat it, even though we've clearly heard exactly what she's said (99.5% lies, I might add). But him thinking it is helping his case, meanwhile the jury sits with toothpicks holding up their eyelids, while JA spews out her endless, meaningless BS.
I, just as the majority in this thread, am patiently awaiting JM on cross tomorrow & into next week... But I just felt the need to point out & hoping JM doesn't stumble on this one piece (among other bits I am sure the def attny's have sewn in their plot to save JA from death) of her testimony that a few people from this thread are getting confused on, & the media (HLN shows) too. JA did mention the gun atop (a high) shelf in Travis's closet while cleaning & she said she used a "chair" to get to the (alleged) gun (to clean the shelf), BUT failed to mention the method (nor was asked by Nurmi, intentionally) she used to retrieve the (alleged) gun. I think the defense purposely left that part out because they are hoping JM asks in cross how she reached a gun a top a high shelf on June 4 when earlier she said she needed a "chair". We cannot forget.... The gun was brought by JA from her heist at her grandparents house the week prior, & if the prosecution puts any doubt to that, by asking JA for an answer to a question, that she'll have a prepared answer for, then that will put doubt for the jury to ponder----> Was the gun there already? Could it be that her explanation makes sense? Could it be true, because the prosecutor, asked, & she gave a semi believable answer, therefore making it "possible". So I just wanted to add a reminder, that, a gun doesn't just coincidently get stolen from a home where a week or so later the person who lives in that very same home has shot a person with the same caliber gun as the one stolen. JA brought the gun with her, there was no gun high a top Travis's shelf where JA "jumped up on the shelf" to retrieve anything, this is just her attempt at disproving premeditation.*

Very well said! It's like that case someone linked here the other day about a woman that wanted her husband dead. Busted hiring an under cover for the job. Cold selfish plotter simple as that. Probably would have loved to have done it herself except an albi would get her out of the woods of being there. It isn't either / or type of killer, there are many types. Me me me like Jodi is only one kind.
I love to see the aftermath of how criminals screw up, one little piece, one thing they forgot, one slip up.
