It's clear that she suffered from mental illnesses, but I just don't think she's a was a psycho killer with a plan. I think she was just a crazy person who did crazy things. I think it's believable that the gun was Travis's.

I agree and see it much the same way. I totally think she was planning blackmail on him emotionally and financially. She was obsessed and I fully believe she had a story concocted in her head about how her life would be with Travis if she could just somehow convince him, change him and control him with sex. The more he tried to separate from her the more she realized that she was never going to have him and it hurt and angered her. She then began plotting revenge and I think that she played out different scenarios in her head how she was going to handle it.. not sure if she really thought the whole murder thing out but I think she definitely had murderous thoughts and brought the weapons and got pissed off enough to actually use them. Of course this is all speculation as I am not her but it is just what I pick up from all the testimony and her own statements just guides me to feel that way.
If the defense has actually rested, I think it's interesting how they didn't call those so-called experts to prove she was abused.
In other words, even the defense knows that she is so full of shit, that experts couldn't sell her story. It was better for them for her to pretend she can't remember what happened.
If I were Martinez, I'd pass on questioning her now and reserve the right to call her back to the stand in the future.
I'd let her sit there, every day, through all of the other witnesses, not knowing when I was going to call her. And make sure I gave her a big cheshire-cat smile at every opportunity as she sat over there at the defense table wringing her hands waiting for the moment.
There's no way that gun was in the closet. What person would have passed up the doors to flee out of the bedroom to the IMMEDIATELY IN FRONT OF YOU stairs leading down to the 1st floor and out the front door to your waiting (and packed, no less) vehicle.
That gun was in her purse that whole time. And her purse was in the bedroom, I've no doubt.
I think it was a blackmail plan gone horribly awry.
IMO, all of those pictures of Travis that day were taken surreptitiously, something Jodi could hold over his head and threaten to show his friends or, even worse for him, his Bishop.
I think the proverbial shit hit the fan with that one focused photo, where he is looking directly in the camera. I think it's confusion on his face when he finally sees her there snapping away. Hell, even those peen pictures don't look like he's aware she's over there snapping away. Dude REVELED in having his picture taken everywhere in every way. No way were those shots he was posing for...because, clearly, he wasn't posing.
I think he probably did lunge at her to get the camera out of her hands. I believe that part of her story. I'm also willing to accept the knife was in the bathroom or bedroom, too. And, yeah, I'm sure he was in a rage, what with her taking super-secret pictures that could have had only ONE use for her. Blackmail.
Blackmail had been hinted at on both of their parts in text messages, him threatening to tell her family and friends about her "sociopathic" acts of however he phrased it, and her hints at revealing his alleged pedophiliac tendencies to others.
I don't think she went there with premeditation to kill him.
But I do think she went prepared with that gun if things didn't go as she had planned. And I don't think she ever intended for him to catch her taking those pictures.

Yes, she said that, BUT in the pics Nurmi showed there didn't look like there was a stool or step in there. If there was one it was placed back where it belonged before she left????? Also one of Travis friends said he liked to shoot guns. But didn't own one so he used the friends when they went out to shoot. Clearly he would have told his friend he got one and would have wanted to try it out.
When Jodi help up her wonky, broken finger the other day...didn't she say that it was busted by Travis on 6/4/08? Or was it another one of his fits of rage,, when this happened?
I would be completely happy with her getting life w/o parole. Anything less tho will be like getting away with murder, in my book.
I agree. this rehearsed story of hers is SO unbelievable. I'm sick of her lies. And I'm SO glad Nurmi finally finished today. My mood improved greatly hearing him say " I have no further questions, your honor"![]()
What if Jodi brought the .25 gun, that she stole from her grandparents, to threaten to kill herself in front of Travis. This being her last ditch effort to try to get Travis back. She could have gone there knowing she was losing him, he was moving on with another woman, Jodi herself was not worthy marriage material to Travis. But this last act of trying to hurt herself in front of Travis may have worked for her before, but not on such a grand stage. Possibly threatening to cut herself, or she was sick, or she was feeling suicidal. And Travis being the nice guy he was tried to "save" her before and was drawn back into a relationship with her by those actions.
Exactly. And I love how she started to try to throw in more stories of his temper and supposed abuse. I'm assuming she might have even been thinking that there wasn't enough evidence that he had ever gotten angry enough to kill, so she had to add on a couple extra stories to try and back that up. Another thing that people who are "making things up" tend to do!!
Thanks for sharing! I think that "reflection" aspect is really the point - you had long enough to think about that fact that you were going to kill someone, which for most normal people would end with "no, I'm not going to do that."
I guess if you are able to actually believe that the gun went off by accident! Rule number one of owning a gun - DON'T POINT AT SOMEONE UNLESS YOU INTEND TO KILL!!! That is the first thing they teach you in training and when you take a course for a license. If you aren't intending and willing to kill, you don't point a gun. PERIOD. The reason they tell you this, is because that is how it is interpreted and treated in the law - EVEN in truthful and justifiable self-defense.
Also, Jodi has lied about SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much that why would we believe it was an accident. AND, she didn't realize he'd even been shot?!?! PLEASE. Head wounds bleed insane amounts, she would have known instantly. And even with a gun as small as a .25, there still would have been visible push-back on his body due to impact and force of the bullet - especially considering that he wasn't already with much or any forward momentum.
The other thing is that the trajectory of the bullet doesn't match her story at all. For the bullet to go into his forehead and in a downward trajectory to behind his cheekbone she would have had to be firing from a downward angle - meaning he would have had to be bellow her. Him standing up and moving toward her doesn't fit at all with this. If that were the case, the bullet would have gone more-or-less straight back, and likely angled up a bit since she is shorter than him.
Also, the bullet casing landed ON TOP of blood - meaning that there was a significant injury (to have pooled up enough blood in that spot) that occurred PRIOR to the gunshot. The Medical Examiner also said there were no signs of hemorrhaging from the bullet wound which generally means the individual is dead before that injury. This again would prove her story complete BS in and of itself.
Also, have you ever "blacked out??" I have twice and seen it happen to others as well. Guess what?? I have NEVER seen someone's body MOVE while they are blacked out. Nor did mine. When you black out it is a state of unconsciousness - your brain isn't "available" to tell your body what to do and it certainly would not be capable of causing her to stab someone 27 times and slit a throat... I buy that she was in full out rage - but she planned to kill him and the rage had been boiling for a long time - stab wounds are personal and generally stem from volatile relationships and emotions. Not from defense.
EVIDENCE DOESN'T LIE - PEOPLE DO!!!
I'm trying to say that watching this case is like homework. I'm hoping to actually do something with all of it someday.
It's obvious that she has moments of truth that come out in her testimony but she is hiding a LOT of information and it's infuriating. I'm curious if she will ever tell the true story with all the details. I know that some people who are convicted are unable to have "book deals" and interviews and the like. I'm hoping that's not the case with her.
No way Martinez is talking plea deals. No way. I think the hearing is in regards to what will be allowed in on cross examination (texts, emails, video from 48 hours, etc.)
I was listening in my car when that happened!! Yikes!
I was thinking the same thing!!!! What an awful thing for Nurmi to close on!
Agree!!!
Lol! I can agree with that!
I'm actually very afraid of that. Hope Jodi doesn't become "ill" overnight.
Most definitely.

I just watched Jodi's testimony today. My thoughts are there were some truths sprinkled in with the heavy coat of lies. I believe Jodi went to Travis' with the intention of either blackmailing/getting Travis to take her to Cancun/be together again, I'm not sure what her reasons were, but I do believe she always had the thought of murdering him in the back of her mind. That's why she took the gun.
Obviously that day didn't go as she wanted, I believe her rage was building. She has one last card, she will take pictures of him in the shower, show him her dedication, her skill, her artistry. I believe she did drop the camera and Travis did call her a f'in idiot, said a 5 year old could handle a camera better. He could have either said it as mocking her or jokingly, making fun of her. I think that may have sent her into full rage. How dare he mock her, make fun of her! This was her passion and the man she obsessed over, was invalidating her. We know he wasn't in a rage, she totally flipped out and he never saw it coming.
Jodi remembers every moment of what happened. She relives them over and over. She can't say she has remorse for killing Travis because she doesn't feel remorse at all. She feels remorse for Jodi. The famous photographer she was going to be. Jodi saw Travis as a step toward her dreams. She would have done anything to keep him in her life. If Travis didn't want her, she could not let him move on and be with someone else.

She said she stood on the thing in the closet that she used when she was cleaning. Take a look at the picture of the closet, everything in it's place, and if she used something to stand on she put it back neat and tidy before she "blacked out" Yeah right,
If he came at her like a foot ball player, if she was standing, he would be below her, if he got close enough, she could shoot down rather than into his head.
Not that I believe her, but, someone might...
Karma is only a bitch if you are!
I heard on the radio that there was a big hail storm in Phoenix today.
I guess even God is mad at Jodi for lying so badly.
(Don't attack me! ;) I'm being sarcastic. Mostly.)
