Fair enough. I didn't realize you read them.

My husband's theory is that Enrique was behind on his rent and thus just didn't acknowledge Travis' absence or the pungent smell permeating their shared wall, and maybe even came home, saw Jodi and Travis struggling, and jumped in to help her out.

While I agree in that I don't necessarily buy into the fact that Enrique didn't see/hear/smell anything (probably the perfect roomie in that he obviously minded his own business, lol), I'm not too sure I'd make the jump that he'd help snuff out Travis without some pretty significant evidence to back up the theory.

The case makes for great discussions in our house, as you can tell. O.O

ETA: My husband also thinks Jodi may have been banging the sensory-challenged Enrique as well, just like Ron and Artemis.
While I am sure your husband is a very lovely man..I don't believe for one second any of the roommates had anything to do with this...and only because of the fact that Jodi has thrown her own family under the bus...

I unsubscribe from this thread because I figure I'll just watch the trial instead of try to weed through this shit, come back a few weeks later, AND WE'RE STILL TALKING ABOUT THE PANT LEG IN THE PICTURE OH MY GOD.

It just seems weird to me for her to bring a gun into the middle of this brutal knife attack, but I suppose I shouldn't attempt to apply any logic to a situation like this one.
Set aside the "why she brought" both the gun and the knife, and ask yourself "why she used" both the gun and the knife. I think Jodi shot Travis to leave some evidence to back up her story that there were two assassins, one with a gun and one with a knife, in case the police found out she was there. He was already finished when she shot him and stuffed him in the shower. Who knows exactly when?

I'd sure like to see someone speculate on the origin/reasons for the 'kool aid' stains on the rental car seats. Anybody? Jodi must have had some blood on her clothes and she must have gotten wet during the killing.

Also! Anybody out there who is familiar with the characteristics of an abuser? It seems to me that the defense is trying to attach these characteristics to Travis to back up their story. i.e. If it can be shown to the jury that Travis had the clinically defined traits of an abuser, by default, he must have been an abuser. That puts lots of legs under Jodi's stories/lies.

She loved 'her' Travis. She hated that he refused to be 'hers'--especially since, (in her own mind) she had given up everything to make him that way. It's part of the obsession.

If I were on the jury and only knew the facts that the jury does-I would also be asking some of the questions people on here are.
Just from the jury questions alone, you can see they have some questions about some of the story the state is saying.

I have also noticed that I have a few friends that just started following the case. They think Travis was the devil. I'm talking about people that don't follow trials and cases. They are not online looking up deep details about the story. They only know what is being shown or said in court. They have deep compassion for Jodi and her story. They believe her.

I never try to get sucked in emotionally with any crime case or story. You are sure to be disappointed if you do.

Even though I may not agree with Ron- he (and others) do make a very valid point. They are saying things that a lot of people are saying. I would ASSume they are also bringing up some very good points that the jury is going to bring up when they get together with each other.

Ryan Burns (man in Utah) testified that she was strong enough to lift him (though I doubt she could do it today -- he's obviously much heavier now).

I have no troubles believing she was physically capable of doing what she's sworn under oath that she did.
I agree bryanwasdrunk! Though I won't rule ANYTHING out at this point, since seemingly everything out of this hobag's mouth is a straight-up filthy lie....BUT...remember: she came from NOTHING. She had to sleep and con her way through life, jobs, men, free travel, cars, places to live, etc. She was a leech on anyone who fell for her charm. She was TOUGH. She was calculating, she had to be as part of her survival technique. There are crazy people out there who can lift A LOT OF WEIGHT, especially when they're in a rage, adrenaline is rushing. All she needed was a weapon, and Travis was just about as vulnerable as a person can be, wet and naked in a slippery tight shower stall. Like I said, if anything new comes up in trial, and she DID have help, or someone else did it and pinned it on her...whatever. Fine. But, overall, size, weight, height, build...none of that matters if someone is dry, fully-clothed with a knife and/or a gun in their hands. Travis never had a chance, really. She 100% could have carried this out, all by herself. As far as the roommates are concerned, we don't know much about Enrique, other than he supposedly left for work that morning around 5:30-6:00am - and came home around 6:00pm. He probably is just one of those people who doesn't question things, and if he wasn't close friends with Travis, he probably just came home and went into his room every night. If he noticed any smells, (which were probably getting the worst around June 7th or the 8th) maybe he just blamed it on the dog shitting in Travis's room like his other friends did. Maybe he thought someone hadn't taken the garbage out in a while, or Travis had garbage in his room. Maybe he didn't spend a lot of time in the house June 4th-9th. The Police report didn't get into a ton of details, about EXACTLY where each of the roommates were all day long in those 5 days. Overall, everything makes sense and points towards Jodi being the murderer. No one else's hair fibers/blood/DNA was found at the scene. Jodi had all the motivation to do this. She was a jealous, envious, angry, underprivileged woman, who had been basically used by Travis. She knew she was never going to win Travis's heart. Her life with him was over, so she decided to end his. Just my humble opinion...

Good morning people. I've been away from this thread since last Thursday. Can someone tell me where the defense is picking up today? Are we up to June 2008, yet? Is she expected to talk about the day of the murder today?

    Guilty - 1st degree!

I'm usually not pro-death-penalty, but if she's found guilty of 1st degree murder, then she needs to fry. Jodi did the unspeakable to Travis; there is no excuse for that level of overkill.

I don't see how she'd ever get 2nd-degree or manslaughter. (stranger things have happened, tho)

I predict that Jodi will jump back in her time-machine today and go BACK in time far enough to drag this out for a few more days. I would be shocked id she got to June 4, 2008 today. I'm sure she's thought of a lot more anecdotes to tell us since she's had 5 days alone to think.

Pruned a bunch of posts this morning from this thread last night and moved to chit-chat. This totaled almost 2 full pages (about 50 posts).

That being said, there was a VERY valid point made by one poster that was moved and is worth repeating here: This forum is NOT your cell phone messenger program (even if you are typing from your phone). Please don't use "text-speak"!!

And a re-print for those of you who missed this yesterday morning:

Guilty, but one to three jurors will hold out on death.

She's been on the stand too long for the jury to kill her, IMO. Juries don't like to kill people they know and/or women.

I agree with Bermstalker, I don't think they will go for the DP but will 2nd degree, after all it is down to the jury and they don't see all that everyone else does.

I predict she'll get 2nd degree as well. The defense is posing a "holy shit she snapped" scenario more than self defense. I guess at this point they're just trying to save her from lethal injection. Doubt very much this jury will do 1st degree, let alone DP. But we'll see.
