Wow. That is sad. I'm sure it's not due to your lack of effort. There is the nature vs. nurture factor. Sometimes people are just born sociopaths (and/or Bi-polar) and some are made that way. There are mental illnesses that have nothing to do with the way a person is raised. For example, a person (Jodi) did not kill Travis because her mom hit her with a wooden spoon. If that was the case there would be a lot more murderers in the world. Sociopaths have no remorse when they hurt others, they have remorse that they got caught. They feel a sense of entitlement to everything.

She has ASPD, she was diagnosed with ODD (Oppositional Defiant Disorder) prior to 1st grade, which to my understanding is a huge precurser to ASPD. My father and his wife are like George and Cindy and refused to admit, or help me to work on her behavior issues. up to and including them telling her she didnt have to listen to me or abide by my rules when i was trying to teach her that her actions have reactions, and she needed to be held accountable. BUT that being said, i am not a spanker, nor have i ever beat her with a wooden spoon. her punishments consisted of groundings, and removal of desired objects, and she was on a reward system.

I was diagnosed with ODD prior to first grade as well, and ADD and OCD in first grade. I got my ass handed to me when I misbehaved. Strap, spoon, yard stick.. you name it, if my mom could hold it, I got hit with it. All it did was teach me to hide shit better and fear people in power rather than respect them. Spanking is not the way to handle anything, and I applaud you for using alternate punishments.

But I should say that I don't think spanking causes people to kill other people!
