I'm doing the Sherlock ones on audiobook - my hubby loves books but hates to read, so we do a lot of audiobooks too and he LOVES Sherlock Holmes cause his dad used to read them to him and his siblings (his dad owns more books than most public libraries...and that's not an exaggeration AT ALL.). I'm definitely eager to watch the episodes after having listened to the books. I've finished the first two volumes and am on the last one!! :)
I watched Sherlock before I read the books (I had never read them before). Now I am watching them again. Whole different perspective after you read the books, it's a lot of fun!

Definitely love Margaret Atwood. The first one I read was The Handmaid's Tale when it first came out and I have loved her ever since. The Handmaid's Tale, Oryx & Crake and The Year of The Flood are all dystopian stories set in the future. If you like that kind of thing.

Hey did we ever get an update on that break in at the psychological profilers house?
um, raising my hand, you aren't the only one :) I learned how to read, I like it for that but have no reason to have it.
I haven't seen an update on the psych yet.

The use of present tense makes this kinda creepy.

Here's some TL;DR from those court documents.
    From http://www.docstoc.com/docs/10982855...urt-Documents:

A text from T to J deemed by Nurmi as sexual:
"I am at a club right now and it has helped me to come to the conclusion that you are one of the prettiest girls on the planet."

An emotionally abusive one from T to J:
"Why don't you have him come and fuck you in the woods, I can only imagine you are so worried about me reading. You are paranoid because you have no respect for people privacy and you dare insult me of all people. Someone you have should through your actions you hate more than love by denying me a human right to privacy countless times. We are all not like you in that aspect."

From the plea for 2nd degree:
    http://grahamwinch.files.wordpress.c...riasngfile.pdf

"Not only will expert testimony be provided, Travis's own words will paint a tawdry picture not of a choir boy steadfastly practicing his faith, but of a playboy expert manipulator and sexual deviant."

It mentions two other cases that Jodi feels are similar to her own as justification for a lesser charge:

    1. A woman stabbed her boyfriend once in the chest during an argument; she was charged with 2nd degree murder but was offered manslaughter and sentenced to 12 years.
    2. A man stabbed his wife and drove her body to the police station. He was charged with 2nd degree murder but plead to the court.

Then it suggests that Travis treated Jodi badly by describing her to Marie as "a stalker." Jodi complains that the charges do not provide her with an incentive to plead guilty to anything past second-degree murder (poor baby). She is worried that Travis's friends and family will suffer more pain if the trial drags on. However, she is magnanimous enough to plead guilty to 2nd degree, which she believes would atone for the fact that she lied, lied, lied during the investigation, which surely caused his friends and family more pain. She's just that fucking sweet.

    EVIL.

I have recently been maybe diagnosed as having BPD but I'd like you to shed light on the broad spectrum of the disease just like Autism can have many variations. I have been happy to see the character in the TV show have Bipolar disorder and be the first to show you won't be homeless or a raging killer. The same goes for BPD. I am not narcissitic. I am very thoughtful of others. I have triggers that set me off based on being abandoned by my dad and his family then getting raped by a maternal uncle at 14 and told...I WAS LYING!! To keep the harmony in the family. So I have a lot of abandonment issues. But I am in therapy and I have a journal for what causes a trigger for me to get very mad. I now think things through and say, is it real or my perception? I've written letters to my Dad saying he really screwed up. My boyfriend is dealing with it but when I heard on Jane Velez Mitchell them saying oh she's BPD they are notorious for no self control, no empathy, blah blah blah. My boyfriend joked with me asking 'oh are you going to slash my tires if we break up?" it is so unfair to lump this huge spectrum of a mental disorder into being automatically assumed I'm going to kill eventually. There are 4 types of BPD from what I have heard. Jodi sounds either sociopathic or the high end scale of BPD called Narcissitic BPD. They deny any problem. I don't deny but cringe when my mood disorder makes people around me say I'll be a murderer someday!!
I am so sorry to hear about the pain you have been through! It sounds like you're well on your way to recovery, which is something you should be really proud of!

I am at the mild end of spectrum and am also working my way towards recovery. I see some similarities in Jodi's behavior to how I can act out (projecting, lying when I worry that someone doesn't like me, seeking identity from outside influences because my own sense of self is shaky). But I have never killed or have wanted/threatened to kill anyone or anything, other than myself! BPD isn't necessarily as scary as it sounds once you're in treatment. For me, it has meant accepting I am sensitive, taking care of myself regularly, and learning how to cope with and be responsible for my reactions and choices. I'm in a much better place, but my own family doesn't even know I was diagnosed or am in therapy. I'm ashamed to tell them.

Jodi may be borderline, sure, but after watching her all week I really do think she's a sociopath. Borderlines are quite capable of experiencing regret, shame, and guilt, particularly over their own actions (not all do, but it is not impossible). She doesn't seem to be experiencing those emotions at all. I don't believe for a second that she wanted to commit suicide either. Threatening/being suicidal is a pretty common hallmark of BPD.

Does anyone know why her defense is not an insanity plea? Seems like it would make more sense than the angles they're taking. Sorry if this was answered already somewhere.

She more likely stuck that finger up too many exit holes.

It wasn't too deformed to get her prints
Couldn't it be from cutting the inside of her fingers with the bloody, slippery knife? When she was still on the ninja story with Flores, she shows him the wounds and tells him she no longer can get a ring on that finger because of the cut she got in the struggle with ninja woman.

These wounds are why her blood is mixed with his in the palm print.

I believe she was found competent to stand trial. She's insane...ly evil. She has issues, but appears to understand the difference between right and wrong.

So on the subject of that shower pic that's of Travis looking into the camera, do you remember when Jodi commented to Flores that one was a great photo? It's got me thinking again about the chain of events before Jodi starts her biggest lie about what happened.

I think he was forced to sit at gunpoint when the pic was taken while she told him off, expressing her power over him. Remember her big complaint to Flores about jail was that she felt "powerless." I think she got Travis where she felt like she finally had the upper hand, after nothing else worked to make him fully be hers. That's why this picture was meaningful to her.

I think then she tried to shoot him but the gun jammed just like she claimed happened in her ninja story. I think he lunged up at her out of the shower and knocked the camera away as it took a pic of the ceiling. Probably knocked the gun away too. Then she got her knife from wherever, probably her pocket, andstabbed at him blindly at first while he used his hands to defend himself. She then hit him in the heart (I suspect she was aiming for it after the first few cuts, it would obviously incapacitate him and it is also symbolic of Jodi the eternal victim). After the heart stab he was swiftly weakened to the point of not being able to defend himself as strongly. He probably grabbed on to whatever was around he could steady himself on, the sink; he bled over it while she started stabbing him in the back, head, anywhere she could hit. She must have been in a rage-panic. Possible at this time: He fell and went down onto his back. She fell back herself in the process and hit the camera button with her foot, where it took the next pic of him on the floor. If this was the case, the blood shown in that photo is coming from stab wounds, not throat slashing.

With one last huge surge of strength to knock her aside, he gained a few seconds to pull himself up or crawl into the hall, falling against the sides of the walls and smearing them with blood as he got weaker with the exertion. With how low the blood smears are on the wall I think he was crawling or almost crawling. He collapsed at the end of the hall (or she knocked him to the ground; he was weak and she was all adrenaline). I think he fell face down and she pulled his head back and slashed his throat while she was crouched over him. But she could have rolled him over and slashed his neck that way (god, looking at his face while she did it..... cold murdering bitch). I think he died right there quickly. I hope fiercely that he was unconscious immediately and felt no pain.

She started to freak out over the blood everywhere (remember she said to Flores early on that she heard there was a lot of blood involved, implying it had an impact on her) and thought if she got him back into the shower she could clean things up. She took the sheet off the bed because it was easier and cleaner to wrap him up in something. Possible here instead: as she was starting to move his body, she stepped back and hit the camera, which had been kicked into the hall by one of them in the struggle. The camera took the pic of her standing over him and the blood was coming mainly from the throat slashing. I think this is more likely than the pic being taken in the bathroom, but I haven't looked at the timing of the photos to see. She wrapped him in the sheet and started to lift him, steps back AGAIN and hits the camera with her foot where it took the final picture of the hall baseboard. At some point in the hall sshe braced herself against the wall and left a palmprint. The hair found could have been ripped out at any point during the stabbing.

She got him into the bathroom and before she heaved him into the shower, she shot him in the head. Why? Did she feel after that horrendous struggle for his life that she needed to show she was powerful again (likely IMHO)? Did she mistakenly take post-death convulsions for signs of life (also likely IMHO)? Or was she thinking that she could stage it like a break-in, and then gave that idea up as she tried to clean the mess?

Regardless, she got him into the shower and probably also got into the shower (!!!) with his body to wash herself off. Then she dressed and tried to mop the blood up with towels, the sheets, and cups of water before realizing that it was fruitless and she needed to get out of there. She must have realized that the camera still had photos on it from earlier in the day, so she deleted them. I think she intended to take the camera with her along with the weapons, but accidentally scooped it up with the bloody sheets and threw it in the wash. Wasn't the bedroom torn up like someone looked for something in a hurry? She grabbed her stuff (including the KY!), made sure she had the weapons and her bloody clothes with her. Put up the dog gate just in case the dog started sniffing around, locked the door, and booked. I do think it is possible that the roommate came home while she was there, maybe just as she was ready to leave, and she may have snuck out. But she could have done the shoddy cleanup she did in a fast-paced half hour. She had to have parked down the street earlier in the day so as not to be seen.

I think she waited until she was well out of AZ and then burned the clothes somewhere in the desert. Tossed the gun and knife, maybe into a river. She didn't show up at the next guy's house until like 12 hours later so I suspect she had an adrenaline crash and was sleeping it off somewhere - the car? A cheap cash motel? Were the red stains in the car Kool-aid or blood? I imagine eventually she tossed the floor mats after realizing they had some incriminating substance on them.

Being that she's a narcissistic monster and probably let him have it verbally while he was at gunpoint in the shower, I think the expression on his poor face is questioningly fearful, maybe a little indignant or shocked. Maybe "I should have followed my instincts" or "I should have listened to what other people were saying" crossed his mind, or maybe he just thought she was fucking with him. With how much she loves to talk about herself, I cannot imagine that she just attacked him without telling him why first. It's all about her after all.

I think she planned to shoot him in the shower where things would stay tidy and end quickly ("humanely," as she said in her interrogation). I wonder about the knife. I feel like she had the knife so she could stab him in the heart like a symbolic act. Her stalking behavior after all was filled with symbolism, dates, power plays, etc. and that's only what we know so far. I'm not so sure she would have stabbed/slashed if the gun had worked. But I could be wrong.

TL:DR - JM's final argument is going to be awesome if he can finally put together all of the steps that happened that evening, because we're all probably almost right about what happened but don't quite have it all figured out. And I need to go to bed!

Speaking of Nancy Bombshell Grace. Did anyone see her last week , when she was interviewing a female prisoner behind a barred window? She was actually arguing with the prisoner about why Jodie killed Travis. It was too funny.

I didn't know if anybody has already posted this, but it's from Chris Hughes' facebook

    Chris Hughes
    Yesterday
OK, so I have been pretty quiet through this trial…so far. We have decided to not do any media until after the trial is over. We had no idea how hard that commitment would be to keep as we had underestimated the attack that would be made on Travis. But we made it, so we will keep it. That said, there are a few things I need to clear up that are floating around on the net…..

IT (Jodi), being IT, came up with a whole new set of lies in 2010. Lies, I would imagine, she is going to try to work into this trial, as she fights for her life. I didn't think she would attempt to do this as there is no evidence as to the validity of these claims. There are only letters conjured by IT that were thrown out of court and deemed "fraudulent." I just figured she, and everyone on her team, had given up on these ridiculous claims until I read the posts below:

"It also makes you wonder just how much Chris & Sky Hughes really knew about TA’s child addiction (and the physical/verbal abuse he inflicted upon Jodi in private). Remember Sky’s initial reaction to one of TA’s letters too, where she specifically referenced TA’s age of attraction?" and "(& subsequent cover-up of TA’s abuse & child porn-related issues) by Chris & Sky Hughes."

UNBELIEVABLE! Are people really this delusional? This info is from fake letters…too fake even for the National Enquirer to run with! That is saying something! Some of you heard me call Nurmi a liar. It was related to these claims. He had LIED to my wife. He emailed her a letter, telling her it was "100% verified to be Travis' writing" and that there was "irrefutable evidence" backing up these claims. #1- It's near impossible to verify something 100%. AND it is absolutely impossible to even come close if there is no original (which we later found there is not). #2- There is no, and never has been "irrefutable evidence" to back up these claims. He totally lied! Sky's reaction to what Nurmi sent her had ZERO to do with Travis and his character, and EVERYTHING to do with Nurmi's lies and manipulative tactics and her experiences working with sexually abused kids. The ONLY reason Sky even went there, as far as Travis was concerned, was because Nurmi told her there was "irrefutable evidence," and to us, the only thing irrefutable would be video tapes. We had NO IDEA that it was legal for the defense attorney to lie about evidence to try to sway someone's testimony (we had been subpoenaed to testify in a hearing the following week). Unbelievably unethical in my opinion.

I just wanted everyone to be aware of this, because I'm guessing Jodi, being the shamelessly evil person she is, is going to make these asinine claims! Here is what we know about Jodi… and it is truly "irrefutable." Jodi lies…and lies… and lies… it's just what she does, and who she is. She has done it from the beginning, and we can expect more of it until this trial is over. To expect anything other than lies from Jodi would be naive at best. Travis is not, and never has been, a pedophile. And only the most despicable of human beings would accuse someone of being such, knowing they are not. There is nothing worse.

I definitely agree with you on a lot of these things, especially the creepy factor of her bragging to Flores about that final picture of Travis. It's just so much more unsettling than her diaries or memorial posts (also creepy). Think about the public reaction to that picture that a photographer took of a man just seconds before he was killed by a subway car on the tracks. That image gave me chills. For her to brag about that--knowing what came immediately after--is absolutely shocking.

I mentioned this earlier, but this case that is cited in that document, my daughter went to high school with that girl. I know a little about the case, and it is completely different from Jodi's. She and her boyfriend had been drinking and hanging out with friends when she and the boyfriend got into an argument. She stabbed the boyfriend during the argument. It happened that she stabbed him in the heart and he died. Sure, it's terrible, but the circumstances were completely different from Jodi's. For one, she was drunk. Two, it happened during the heat of an argument and she stabbed him once, not 27 (or 29?) times, nor did she slit his throat and shoot him in the head. It was clearly not premeditated (there were witnesses, the friends who were there). Three, she did not try to hide her crime, lie about what actually happened and she admitted guilt.

For one, in Arizona, it's almost impossible to use this plea. Even Jared Loughner, who clearly had mental problems, would have had a hard time using it (if he had not pleaded guilty). Two, she's not insane. She probably has a personality disorder, but that's not the same as being insane.
