My sister-in-law has severe Narcissistic Personality Disorder and the depth of it has all come out recently. We have asked my brother to lock up their guns (preferably to keep them at our home instead) as she can go into a complete rage at anything. Every past woe, whether real or imagined, suddenly becomes instant to her and is used against him. She has punched him in the face, strangled him and other physical acts of aggression. She lied about much of her past and continues to lie to make her life seem "perfect" and herself seem "perfect." They feel that everyone else is to blame. SHE will do something and then blame their kids or my brother for it - in rage too. I could see this with Jodi, absolutely. No psychiatrist here, but she has very similar characteristics to my SIL. While I hope my SIL would never seriously hurt my brother or her children, I don't know, and it only takes one time for it to be too late! (Hence wanting to get the guns out of their house). I've thought a lot about the outcome of this case and pray I am never sitting where Travis' sisters are sitting now. :(

I'm not a mental health person at all.....but there is no way I will ever believe that Jodi has ever wanted to kill herself. No way. She loves herself way to much for that. She loves men. That's why she always has a backup man waiting when one relationship is over with.

That's what I thought, too... no way she was going to commit suicide. For her to throw that out there as an excuse for the 'no jury will ever convict me' comment is pure bull-pucky!

Me too, lol. I am NOT an expert. I do know one person with BPD pretty well. She is nothing like Jodi. This poor girl cuts herself, has attempted suicide many times, etc. but, my knowledge of BPD is pretty limited.

Is it possible to be both a sociopath and have BPD? I still lean towards thinking she is a sociopath. But again...I'm not an expert at all!

She dropped the camera, he lunged at her and her head hit on the wall. His attention turned to the camera and picked up it while Jodi ran through the closet or further to bedroom (the location of the knife). He chased her down while screaming nasty name and threat. She told him back up and let her go. Little Jodi with a knife in hand further enraged him and he tackled her down to the floor. The fight started around bedroom door and ended in less than one minute. The camera, brought there by him, took those unintended photos during the fight. Self defense, 100% and free Jodi.

That is so sad. Will she go on any medications? I had the worst postpartum depression after having my twins. That shit isn't something to mess with. I hope she gets some help.

she refuses to acknowledge she even has a problem (and despite diagnosis, my parents insist she is "normal"). I'm really hoping that PPD keeps its ugly face away.

My mom did this when I was a child. It sort of stopped as all of us got older.

I noticed her treating my teenage niece horribly during a recent visit--it was like reliving my high school years. It occurred to me that she seems to be really manipulative around children and teenagers, almost like she realized she had to take a different approach with us the older we got.

OMG, This... right here!! I moved from my home town about 8 years ago to get away from my mom. I went back for a visit recently and saw my niece (8years old) being treated EXACTLY the way she used to treat me. Then I saw my nephew (10 years old) being treated like a god.. just like my sister used to be! I had no idea how badly I hated my family until that moment!!

This is why I don't read Huffington Post comments. Most of them are so ridiculous and they piss me off. It's quite obvious these people only have half of the facts and run with it without looking into the actual evidence.
