Hahaha...same here. I saw a big preying mantis and took some pics. I don't think I put them on my FB page though. I just showed them to my daughter, she was in the middle of studying bugs in Science.

I am absolutely terrified of them. One jumped at me as a teenager when I was walking down the deck stairs and I almost broke my foot. My friend said her mom was riding her bike as a kid and one jumped on her and got stuck on her lip. UGHGUGUGHHHHH.

When I used to work security for a local mall, we had a swarm of preying mantis' one summer. We had people calling us to remove them from their cars so they could get in. I was surprised how non-aggressive they were. I could just grab them and relocate them... but there were a lot. It was kind of freaky.

Hello.... I am new. Morbid curiosity brought me here and it's taken me 5 days or so to get through this thread in my free time. I didn't realize until the end that I had to join to see some of the pics....looks like I'm going to have to go through it again to see what I missed. I have never been "into" a case like this before. I just found out about it with the recent coverage and the trial starting. I'm sure I heard of it when it happened, but that was years ago. I hope this chick pays and doesn't get off like CA. I'm kind of intimidated to jump in, there doesn't seem to be many newbs. Here goes!

Oh my gawd, I would DIE. I was at an ATM once when I happened to look to the right and one was right next to my face. It seemed like it took an eternity to get my card back so I could abandon the transaction. If honestly thought about leaving the card in there & saying F**k it.

I picked it up and had it on my finger. All of a sudden my finger started burning. I look down at it and there is an orange string like thing coming from it's body. I assumed it was poop. It scared the shit out of me. Not literally, but I jumped and flung my hand. The grasshopper disappeared, but the orange crap stuck. It was really sticky. I tried wiping it off in the grass but the grass stuck. I washed my hand, but it still felt sticky.
I haven't touched a grasshopper since.
