Electronic cigarette explodes in Florida Panhandle man's face, blows out his teeth, part of tongue

A man in the Florida Panhandle community of Niceville lost all of his teeth, part of his tongue and suffered facial cuts when the electronic cigarette he was smoking exploded, WEAR-Ch. 3 television reported.

Photographer, Vietnam veteran and father of three Tom Holloway was being treated at a burn center, the station reported.

A neighbor told WEAR that Holloway had quit smoking traditional cigarettes because of his health and had taken up so-called electronic cigarettes about two years ago.

Fire officials theorize that the cigarette's battery somehow ignited and it was essentially as if Holloway was "holding a bottle rocket in his mouth," the station reported.
Authorities don't know what model cigarette it was.

We've been doing the eCig thing for over 2 yrs now. I'm down to the lowest dose of nicotine. We don't buy the shitty ones at the gas station, we purchase the different components online and have never had an issue.

There is a huge difference in the cheap ones and the good ones. We sell the shit out of these at the call center, my wife hasn't smoked a real cig in 4 months and we save a bunch of money plus you can smoke anywhere.

I have no idea how one would simply explode. The white part is the battery, the "filter" is the nicotine delivery device.

This is what my smokey looks like. It's an eGo battery with a refillable cartomizer and a drip tip. Thing blazes. I also don't buy the tobacco flavors, like right now, I'm vaping Banana Cream Pie.

This particular eCig was from NJOY (http://www.njoy.com/), but there was also a company called NJOY (http://www.njoytoys.com/) with a booth that makes stainless steel dildos and prostate massagers. Not sure if they are the same company, but guess which product I might have purchased.....

I have an njoy one (ecig, not stainless steel dildo lol) and it's pretty awesome. One of the filters popped in my mouth once because I have a tendency to try to hold them in my teeth like a real cig. That was AWFUL.

My battery is made by njoy. I started on the njoy 510s (smaller battery) moved up to the eGo and get mad vapor.

Ang, yes, that's the worst part of vaping, accidentally getting the liquid in your mouth. No bueno. I couldn't go back to cigarettes now though, it's so weird, even the smell of them makes me sick. I smoked for 15 yrs too.

I have one too. Its called a Hog Mod. Thing looks like a wooden box(very pretty) and uses rechargeable batteries. I started with a 510 threaded eGo (like andrea's but in pink and black) with cartomizers. Now I use atomizers and a bottom feeder with the Hog. It lasts me a couple of days without having to change out the battery or refill the "juice" bottle. I have been down to no nicotine for a long while now. Still puff that ecig when I get stressed though. My favorite flavor is Gooey Butter Cake.

The batteries on ecigs have been known to explode on people. It's rare, but it does happen. Ive mostly heard of people putting them in their pocket and the button is activated and it explodes though. I've never heard of one exploding in someone's face.
