A North Dakota mother is accused of killing two of her young children and injuring a third.

Kailey Erhart, 22, was arrested Aug. 6 and faces multiple charges including murder, attempted murder, aggravated assault, terrorizing with a dangerous weapon and domestic violence.

Mandan police officers responded to a home that day where they allegedly found Erhart covered in blood and holding a kitchen knife to her throat.

She reportedly made a comment about suicide before dropping the knife and being taken into custody.
Inside the home, per the affidavit, police also found the bodies of her three children, all of whom had cuts across their necks.

Erhart’s 3-year-old and 5-month-old were pronounced dead at local hospitals, while her 1-year-old survived after undergoing surgery, the affidavit states.

According to the affidavit, Erhart allegedly chased the children’s father and grandmother with a knife before the fatal attacks.

She also allegedly pointed a gun at the children’s father and told him, “Say goodbye to your kids,” in a video recorded on his phone. He was allegedly able to take the gun away from her after a struggle.
