Influencer Sara Gilson claimed her husband was a pedophile in a viral video that became one of her final social media posts.
On July 23, the Oklahoma-based influencer and her estranged husband, Jeremiah “Shawn” Duffey, were found dead in an apparent murder-suicide — less than two weeks after Gilson, 43, had gone viral on TikTok for sharing that she had “just found out” that Duffey, 48, was allegedly a pedophile.
“Preparing for when Netflix drops a documentary about my soon to be ex husband who I just found out is a pedophile,” Gilson wrote above footage of herself sitting down. (The video was part of the ongoing Netflix documentary trend, in which users pretend to sit for an interview with the streamer for a documentary.)
“I wish I was joking,” the influencer and mother of two wrote in the caption.Gilson and her estranged husband, Duffey, were found dead with gunshot wounds in her home on July 23, less than two weeks after she claimed he was a pedophile in her viral documentary trend TikTok.
Gilson was shot by Duffey, who then fatally shot himself, KTUL reported in the wake of the incident, citing the Owasso Police Department (OPD). A child who lived at Gilson’s home in Owasso, Okla., made the 911 call, according to the outlet.https://www.thedailybeast.com/mom-mu...-viral-tiktok/Gilson filed for an emergency protective order against Duffey on July 10, alleging in her application that he had a gun, threatened suicide “and went on the run,” per The Oklahoman.
The same day, another woman filed a protective order on behalf of her 15-year-old daughter who played on a youth basketball team Duffey coached. That woman alleged that Duffey kissed and touched her teenage daughter, invited her to his hotel room during a tournament, and even offered her money “to keep her quiet.”
