Third body found in 3 days in Minneapolis, MN

Law enforcement on Tuesday released the identity of one of several people found dead in recent days near bodies of water in Minneapolis.

Minneapolis Park Police responded to a report of a body found about 6 p.m. Saturday in woods near East River Parkway and SE. Oak Street, steps away from the Mississippi River, according to a Park Board statement.

The victim was identified by Minneapolis police as Karen Lynn Sognesand, 56, of Maple Grove.

On Monday afternoon, University of Minnesota police responded to a report after a man’s body was found near 6th Avenue SE., and SE. Main Street, close to the Stone Arch Bridge, according to university spokesman Joe Linstroth.

Shortly after 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Minneapolis officers with the Minneapolis Police Department and Park Police responded to a report of a body along the shoreline at Bde Maka Ska, near W. 36th Street and East Bde Maka Ska Parkway.

The body was found in a severe state of decomposition, according to a statement from the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board.

So far, Sognesand’s identity is the only one that officials have released.

Officials also have yet to share any information about the circumstances leading up to any of the deaths.
