Tasia Fortune (29) found hanging from a tree behind a vacant home in Jackson, MS

The woman whose body was found hanging from a tree behind a vacant Jackson, Mississippi, home is 29-year-old Tasia Fortune, the Hinds County Coroner’s Office said on Thursday. Authorities have not said whether or not they suspect foul play.

The Jackson Police Department first announced in a statement on Monday evening that officers “located the body of an unidentified Black female” at the 500 block of Road of Remembrance, a mostly Black neighborhood, at 9:05 that night. Neighbors in the mostly Black Jackson neighborhood contacted police after finding her body, though it is not clear how long it had been there.

Hinds County Coroner Jeremiah Howard, who publicly identified the body as Tasia Fortune on Thursday, said earlier this week that the body would be transported to the Mississippi State Medical Examiner’s Office to perform an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.
Ward 3 Jackson City Councilman Kenneth Stokes sent a letter to U.S. Attorney Baxter Kruger’s office on Wednesday asking for assistance, WLBT reported.

Gee whiz with the "mostly Black neighborhood" and "mostly Black Jackson neighborhood" mentions. I know it is Mississippi, but still.

It's like they are trying to say "it's not white people" without saying it. Mississippi, nice.

Reminds me of the DL Hughley bit (I fucking love him) when he talks about Mississippi, "in Mississippi, black people don't even know they're free yet." "you better stop reading like that...." it's not the same typing it out as listening to it.

That really doesnt need to be said, I feel like they are trying to imply something nefarious.
