Feet of Marijke de Groot (75) & Yoran Krol (16) found in the same area after they went missing at different times and left their bikes behind

This is odd. Serial killer or just coincidence?

    https://nltimes.nl/2026/03/10/police...-teens-remains

Police have announced that they found a foot inside a shoe belonging to 75-year-old Marijke de Groot, the discovery was made in the same area that the foot of Yoran, a teen who had been missing since 2023 has been found in. Marijke has been missing since March 2024 from Oud-Beijerland. At the time, her bicycle was discovered resting against a bench on the Boven Havendijk in 's‑Gravendeel, with her wallet and cards still inside the bike bag. While the police just officially announced the findings, Marijke’s shoe and foot had already been recovered in January.

Police launched a large‑scale search on Monday, including deploying the National Underwater Search Team (LTOZ) and scent‑tracking dogs, in hopes of finding additional clues after the discoveries. Despite the ongoing efforts, the search has not produced any further body parts or new key evidence.
The shoe containing the foot of Yoran, missing for more than two years, was discovered on Monday, March 2, in a branch of the Beneden-Merwede river. DNA analysis confirmed on Friday, March 6, that the remains belonged to him.

Yoran went missing on the night of December 23–24, 2023, following an evening at the youth center ‘De Pomp’ in Almkerk. His bike was later discovered on the Merwedebrug near Gorinchem, a place far from his usual route home to Sleeuwijk. In 2025, Yoran’s father released a book about the disappearance, titled “Son, Where Are You?”

Through Instagram, Yoran’s family said the discovery offers a “small measure of clarity,” though many questions remain. Both families are being assisted by a family investigator and Victim Support Netherlands.

I wonder if their bikes were found anywhere near a bridge. I know that the feet in shoes that were showing up along the west coastline were determined to likely be suicide victims that jumped from the Golden Gate Bridge. The feet will detach and float to the surface if they have shoes on that are buoyant.

I thought about that too, but I'm not sure about how far the bikes were from where the feet was found. I will try to find some more info. It made me think though more of a path by a river vs somewhere with a tall bridge to jump off of, but I might be totally wrong on that.

It did also give me that impression. It's possible that they were attacked and weighed down in the river. Same kind of thing could happen either way. Very bizarre.

Ok, so it sounds like his situation is the same as a lot of missing men we see on here. He went out, maybe had some drinks (I think 16 is legal for cider and such) and sadly probably fell into one river that connected to the other river. I am not sure about the last part. Did they leave out a word and mean to say there ISN'T reason to suspect?

    https://www.dutchnews.nl/2026/03/fee...in-same-river/

He vanished in December 2023 after failing to return home after an evening out at a local youth club. His bike was found a day later on the cycle path and his jacket was fished out of the Beneden Merwede river a few days later. The Merwede flows into the Dordtse Kil.

“There is a considerable current [in the river] and that is likely to have had an impact, a police spokesman said.

The spokesman said there is reason to suspect that either death could be the result of a crime and a major search of the area on Monday did not result in any more human parts.

What is it about drunk men gravitating to and/or falling into bodies of water?

For some reason, Men seem to enjoy pissing in to water so seek it out to pee. After drinking, you tend to need to pee a lot so on the way home from a night out they gravitate towards a water source to pee, lose their balance and "splash". Fully clothed and intoxicated, you'll drown in no time.

    That's my theory at least.

A lot of times feet become detached when bodies are in water. The bones of the foot will stay together because they are in a shoe, but the ankle bones easily detach from the leg in water.

And since these people had shoes on and were not barefoot that probably means they either jumped in (suicide), fell in by accident, or were thrown in by someone else (homicide).
