So it was definitely one of the kids from the basement that got sick? I was thinking maybe it was one of the other three, and then the police maybe questioned why they had kids that weren't theirs, and why they hadn't contacted the police when she handed over her kids. Or maybe there was an illness that was an immediate red flag as a result of a genetic defect or something.

There is two big cases i can think of in recent history in Austria. Three girls where locked away for years by their mentally ill mother and another girl held for 8 years by some guy and when she ran away he chucked himself under a train.

Eastern Europe in general has a problem with it. I actually have a friend who was abducted and raped and kept prisoner for three days in Prague. I couldn't make this shit up. She's all sorts of fucked up as a result.

And thats the reason the whole year i lived there my Czech friends wouldn't let me walk Prague alone. It can be a scary place and some people just won't take no for an answer.

Well I have a feeling that Elisabeth was probably sedated several times throughout the years, and I doubt he hesitated to be violent if he felt necessary. Those girls were probably scared shitless.

sad sad situation. I hope the older children were not raped either.
The kids might not of made noise in fear of punishment. Also if they have been down there all their lives, they know nothing different. If they had no education or even seen outside they must have been pretty quite and withdrawn. Not playing and being like children, with their mother drugged up they had little chance of anyone out side noticing really.
Surely the others in the house must of noticed he was spending alot of time in the basement where i guess they was not to go?
