Dane Paulsen (2) found dead in a river after going missing from his front yard

A massive search is underway for an Oregon toddler who was reported missing on Saturday afternoon, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department.

Dane Paulsen, 2, was reported missing at approximately 4:25 p.m. Saturday and was last seen playing in the front yard of his family's Siletz, Oregon, home, "out of sight of his parents," the sheriff's department said.

By the end of the day on Monday, authorities had searched 682 acres and 311 miles, but Paulsen has still not been found, authorities said.

The child is "friendly and fearless, and is comfortable around strangers and water, but cannot swim" and is "known to love water and vehicles," authorities said.

Paulsen has brown hair and green eyes, and was last seen wearing a gray, fuzzy hoodie with ears, black pants and blue-and-white shoes, the sheriff's department said.

I don't want to sound too judgey, but why would you let a 2 year old play out of your sight? The minute my grandson goes into a different room I follow him. You never know if they are going to try and put something in their mouth and choke.

You dont do it, pure and simple. Thats not being judgey.

Unless Austin was sleeping, I had eyes on him. 2 is still a baby.

I went out with him when he was 4. Didnt let him play alone at a neighbors until he was 6.

It doesnt matter in this case though, if he wandered off they would have found him. And they had to add he loves water and strangers.

Definitely not being judgey in the least. So much can happen in a split moment.

Okay, just wasn't sure if maybe I was too overprotective haha. I remember letting my son play outside without me or my husband when he was about 4 but that was only when he was with his older brother.

I only have 1 so Ive been laser focused. Didnt let him alone until he was 6, but would check up on him.

Kids dont have a basic understanding of any type of danger at that age.

But, lets be real, he didnt wonder off, we all know what happened, what always happens, except for .00001% of cases.

if you sound judgy then I'm judgy too. Parenting 101: you do not let a toddler paly anywhere where you cannot see them.

First of all, NO. YOU DON'T LEAVE A 2 YEAR OLD UNATTENDED.

Also, I think the family's story is bullshit. I think Mom or another family member is responsible. When they stated that he's "comfortable around strangers and water, but can't swim", that sealed the deal for me. They're literally offering up different scenarios to take the focus off of them

The search for 2-year-old Dane Paulsen, who went missing from his Siletz home, has entered its sixth day with no sign of the young boy.

The Lincoln County, Oregon Sheriff’s Office has shifted its search to the nearby Siletz River after finding evidence suggesting Paulsen may have been near the river’s edge before he disappeared.

On Tuesday, Sgt. Jason Spano of the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the search was focusing on the Siletz River, with deputies deploying drones, divers, boats, and K9s.

“So far the evidence available indicates Dane was at the river’s edge before his disappearance,” said Spano. “Because of this, we will be focusing the majority of our ongoing resources on searching the Siletz River.”

    He is still missing.

As of Sunday, the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate all leads. They still maintain there is no evidence suggesting criminal activity in Dane's disappearance.

Earlier in the investigation, authorities had identified a late 1990s station wagon as a vehicle of interest seen in the area before Dane went missing. However, investigators located the vehicle and its owner, determining they are no longer relevant to the investigation.

Oregon police said on Tuesday that a body has been found amid the ongoing search for a 2-year-old boy who vanished earlier this month.

KATU reported that a diver discovered the body in Siletz. Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said on March 4 that they were searching the Siletz River for Dane Paulsen, who went missing on March 1. According to KOIN, Lincoln County police confirmed that Paulsen’s body was recovered from the river, approximately three miles from his home. A medical examiner will determine his cause of death.

I believe his body floated in the river 3 miles from his home; not that he walked 3 miles to the river.

I'm still side eyeing the parents. They literally said that he was "comfortable around water but can't swim". I think they knew he was in the water because they put him there
