Brandon Durham (43) killed by Las Vegas police after he called 911 while a woman with a knife had broken into his home

Las Vegas police are investigating a shooting in which an officer killed a victim of a home invasion who had called 911 for help.

Officers showed up at the home and found a man struggling with a woman over a knife. An officer opened fire and struck the man, killing him at the scene. Only later did they discover the man who was killed lived at the home and was struggling to fend off the woman who had broken into his home.

The man and woman knew each other and had been in a relationship, police say.
Police say Brandon Durham, 43, had called 911 and reported multiple people outside his home shooting, then told the 911 operator that someone had entered his home through the front and back doors and he was locking himself in the bathroom.

He also told the 911 operator that he was home with his 15-year-old daughter, according to police. Officers kicked open the door after arriving on scene and hearing someone screaming as well as damage to vehicles parked outside the property, police said.

Inside the home, police say, officers found Durham and the suspect, identified as Alejandra Boudreaux, struggling over a knife and an officer-involved shooting occurred.

Boudreaux was not hit by gunfire. She was booked for home invasion with a deadly weapon, assault with a deadly weapon child abuse and domestic violence.

The officer who fired is 26 years old and has been with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department since 2021.

It's fucking BULLSHIT. Honestly. People keep saying, "You hate cops, but they're the first people you call when you're in trouble". NOT UNLESS YOU WANT TO GET YOURSELF KILLED. FFS! It was a MAN that called 911, not a woman and they just blindly shot him. Fuck the police.

No excuse, none. These cops were being sexist and too quick to act.

Body camera footage from the police officers who arrived in Henderson shows them kicking open Durham's door. 26-year-old Officer Alexander Bookman drew his weapon and advanced down a narrow hallway.

The footage shows a struggle between a man in his underwear (Durham) and someone in a red hoodie (the burglar Alejandra Boudreaux). Bookman fired just two seconds after shouting, "Drop the knife," hitting Durham in the head. Even after Durham and Boudreaux fell to the ground, Bookman fired five more shots.

The police investigation revealed that 31-year-old Boudreaux had planned to provoke the police into killing her by entering the home with a weapon ("suicide by cop"). Security camera footage shows Boudreaux waiting outside for 10 minutes before entering the house.

Durham's family claims that the person holding the knife was not Durham, but rather that he was trying to stop Boudreaux. His daughter Isabella said, "My dad was definitely a victim. I will now spend the rest of my life without my father."

The picture demonstrates he wasn't the one holding the knife; he was trying to fend her off and she was clearly holding the knife. This is unacceptable ~ the police officer should be charged with murder.
