Remains of Andrew 'Sandy' Irving found 100 years after he vanished while trying to make the first summit on Everest

I don't know if anyone else cares, but I am fascinated by all things mountain climbing and I find this fascinating. I read The 3rd Pole last year and was convinced that the Chinese had found Irving's body and took it, but maybe not. I hope they can find the missing camera! I'd like to know if they summited.

Remains of Andrew 'Sandy' Irvine believed to have been found on Everest

When they spotted it, there was no mistaking what they were looking at: a boot melting out of the ice. As they drew closer, they could tell the cracked leather was old and worn, and the sole was studded and bracketed with the diamond-patterned steel hobnails of a bygone era of climbing.

In September, on the broad expanse of the Central Rongbuk Glacier, below the north face of Mount Everest, a National Geographic documentary team that included the photographer and director Jimmy Chin, along with filmmakers and climbers Erich Roepke and Mark Fisher, examined the boot more closely. Inside, they discovered a foot, remains that they instantly recognized as belonging to Andrew Comyn Irvine, or Sandy, as he was known, who vanished 100 years ago with the famed climber George Mallory.

I also am fascinated by mountain climbing, particularly Everest. Not sure why, as I hate cold weather.

Ha ha, you and me both. Anything under 60° means I am dying, but I am fascinated by mountain climbing.
I’m a huge fan of Jimmy Chin, the guy that led the expedition. He is kind of a protégé of Conrad anchor, who found Mallory, so I am glad it was him that found Irving.

That is neat. I hope they are able to find Irving's camera. It would be amazing to see if they actually made it to the summit. I can't believe they made it at all given their equipment/clothing back then.

Ya'll are crazy, as is anyone who wants to summit some ginormously high mountain. I find it sad, however, that warming on the mountain has allowed so many bodies to be found. Not because I didn't want anyone identified, but rather because this planet is becoming less and less habitable by the day. Global warming is no joke.

But finding a climber after being missing for 100 years is pretty fucking awesome. And I agree, find his camera and see what is on it! Talk about a time capsule, that would be EPIC.
Don't like what I have to say? I respect that. Go fuck yourself.

    Were his remains intact?
