Christopher Hallahan (34) and two other men killed in boating accident in Connecticut

One person is dead and two are missing -- with several others injured -- in a Labor Day boating accident in Connecticut.

Nine people were on the 31-foot motorboat at the time of the accident, which took place on the Connecticut River at about 9 p.m. near Harbor One Marina in Old Saybrook.

The boat hit a jetty at the mouth of the Connecticut River, causing "significant" damage to the boat, officials said.

A man was recovered dead, and six people were taken to the hospital for treatment Monday night, police said. A search for the two missing people stopped around 1 a.m. and restarted Tuesday morning.

The person who died has been identified; two are still missing.

Two men are still missing after a boat crash in Long Island Sound on Labor Day that killed one of their friends and a search for the missing boaters is underway on Wednesday. The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection has identified him as 34-year-old Christopher Hallahan, 34, of Westbrook.

DEEP EnCon Police Capt. Keith Williams said that around 12:10 p.m. Friday, two EnCon police officers found one of the missing men about a quarter mile from the crash site. His name has not yet been released, and he was not wearing a life jacket.

The second body was found at around 4:30 p.m., according to DEEP. His name has also not been released. Officials have not announced where he was found.

The chief medical examiner’s office will determine the cause and manner of the deaths.

Teams have been searching all week in wake of the crash, which left six people hospitalized.

Sad, a young guy with a lifetime of adventures he'll never get to experience. I will never understand being in a boat and not wearing a life jacket. It's like riding in a car without a seatbelt. My brothers have boats, never wear LJ when they go out, boggles my mind.

    Rest in peace, Christopher.
