A Tennessee man who kidnapped, raped and tortured a woman while murdering her by strangulation her has been sentenced to death, according to a statement from Seventh Judicial District Attorney General Dave Clark.

According to multiple reports including the Oak Ridger, WATE and WBIR, Sean Finnegan, 56, was convicted of multiple crimes including first-degree murder, aggravated rape and abuse of a corpse in connection with the death of Jennifer Gail Paxton, 35.

Prosecutors said Finnegan kidnapped Paxton in December 2019 and held her in his apartment in Oak Ridge. There, he repeatedly raped her and assaulted her before strangling her to death.

The Oak Ridger reports that Rebecca Dishman, who was Finnegan's girlfriend or fiancée, told police that Finnegan strangled Paxton with string over an extended period of time, during which he took breaks to smoke.

Subsequently, the couple wrapped Paxton in garbage bags and put her body in a freezer, WVLT reports, citing prosecutors. Finnegan kept her body in a freezer in the bedroom until August 2020 when police came to search his home. He then stowed Paxton's body underneath his bed, said prosecutors.

A 25-year-old woman has pleaded guilty to a gruesome 2020 murder in Oak Ridge and will cooperate with state prosecutors in the death penalty case against her co-defendant, Seventh Judicial District Attorney Dave Clark announced Tuesday.

Rebecca Dishman, 25, pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree murder in the death of 36-year-old Jennifer Gail Paxton. She was sentenced to life in prison for murder and an additional 50 years to be served at 100% on two counts of Rape of a Child from a subsequent investigation.

Dishman will be required to cooperate with state prosecutors in the case against Sean Finnegan, who could be executed for his role in Paxton’s brutal death.

Girlfriend has two FB pages, one completely locked down, but THIS one has lots of comments about this murder. Apparently the girlfriend has mental health issues and the victim, Jennifer, was a vulnerable adult.

In middle school people would bully the hell out of her, i was her best friend for years until we stopped talking. She had a notebook filled with fantasies about just one guy and a picture of his house she was showing everyone when he found out about the notebook he embarrassed the shit out of her and the bullying got worse, if she HAD OR HAS feelings towards a girl or a man she would obess over it! She even tried hittin on me just a year ago and i told her i didnt feel the same, and i havent heard from her since then and i seen the post of her killin someone it actually sent me into a depression period because i still cant believe it, i really do believe that man uses younger woman to his benefit.
