A controversial home listing in Santa Clara County has closed, and it seems that a recent, brutal death in the house didn't stop the buyers from paying $2.1 million.
The four-bedroom home on the 700 block of Valley Way, Santa Clara, in the heart of Silicon Valley, made the news in January when it was reported that Google employee Xuanyi Yu was bludgeoned to death in a bedroom.
Liren Chen, who also worked at Google, was allegedly seen through the window in a blood-spattered room by an acquaintance, who allegedly said that he was “motionless on his knees, had his hands in the air and was staring blankly." Chen has since been arrested and charged with his wife's murder.
Within four months the home had been redecorated and was on the market for $2.12 million — around $70,000 more than the couple bought it for in 2023, records show.
