May 25 (UPI) -- A Louisiana high school graduate who went to a resort in the Bahamas to celebrate with friends is missing after he was dared to jump overboard on a "sunset cruise" excursion.
Cameron Robbins, 18, was dared by others on the boat to jump into the water, according to witnesses who spoke to WAFB. Video footage referenced by WAFB allegedly showed the teen struggling in the water.

I'm assuming it wasn't one of those huge cruise ships that they're talking about. A "Sunset Cruise" sounds more like a chartered boat to me. It may be a good size, but not one of those huge Princess Cruise type boats.

It's not a full size cruise ship, that's why I changed the title. It's a smaller ship, similar to the one Boston posted. I would have thought it was survivable. It's possible that he injured himself hitting the water and couldn't stay above water if he was struggling. I can't imagine that he would jump off if he wasn't a good swimmer although if he was fully clothed and caught in the rift that the boat creates, he'd be a goner for sure.

BB, I love your innocence. The drinking age in the Bahamas is 18. I'm sure it's not hard to get alcohol if you're underage in the Bahamas.

It's dark as fuck. It seems like a drunk off your ass party. You can barely see a guy in the water. I see no sharks, but it's the ocean so there are sharks.
People automatically think just because there are sharks in the water you're going to get eaten. If you get in the shallow water at the beach there's a good chance there's a shark in there with you if you are in FL or tropical waters. They don't normally bite. Usually they bite because they think humans are something else, or we are disturbing them.
I would be more concerned with him swimming towards the back of the boat where the engines are.

He looked naked in the still photo, but I see in the video that he appears to have khaki shorts on. What a moron.
I think it would be immediately apparent if the sharks or engines got him. Since they were drinking, I'm thinking it's the same thing that kills all those men leaving bars to go piss in open water. He drowned and my guess is that either he'll end up as fish food or wash up on some shore eventually.

I saw it in the video. Watch again and pay attention to the left hand side by the boat.
That's not to say that he was attacked though. Most sharks don't attack people. Nurse Sharks, for instance.

I see something grayish splash on the left side. I can't make out what it is.
That's what I think is the shark that's mentioned. It's definitely possible. Nurse Sharks will sometimes hang around boats, but they RARELY attack anyone and they aren't lethal. He may have panicked when he saw it and tried to swim away. That's why you see him in the video turn quickly to swim in the opposite direction. He doesn't even try for the safety ring in the water since it's near the possible shark.
If you're panicked and drunk, you're more apt to drown.
