No you're not! Just done a bit more of a look into it and the Lancashire police department actually stated on 3rd Feb that they'd carried out:

'Extensive and thorough searches of the river and footpaths by specialist police search teams and partner agencies including HM Coastguard, mountain rescue and Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service. Resources have included specialist search dogs, drone, police helicopter and divers. These searches are continuing.'

One of the private firms that's been roped in more recently to help appear to have a dog searching in the water as well.

Then, my question is where did the dogs lead them? Did they use search and rescue dogs? Or actual scent dogs? They didn't mention where they tracked her to so I'm wondering what kind of dogs they actually used other than the water search dogs.

I've seen these dogs track right up to the last place they ended up so I'm skeptical.

I mean.... For instance, they don't mention anything about search dogs here:

    https://www.independent.co.uk/news/u...-b2278002.html

They mention about the behavior of her own dog, but don't bring up tracking dogs at all. In earlier reports, I saw nothing about dogs just that the police thought she had gone in to the river. They seemed to focus on the river and not much else. Did dogs lead her scent to the river? Why do they seem to gloss over it.

I know that I'm sounding insane and annoying right now about it, but I'd like details on the dog search.

No, not sounding insane at all. I completely agree and am not sure why the police are so adamant that she went into the water.

A specialist underwater search team looking for Nicola Bulley have pulled out of the operation and believe “categorically” the 45-year-old is not in the section of the river where detectives believe she fell in.

Peter Faulding, a leading forensic search expert and chief executive of Specialist Group International, said his team have been unable to locate Bulley in the area of the River Wyre.

Bulley was last seen in St Michael’s on Wyre, near her home in Inskip, Lancashire, on the morning of 27 January. Detectives believe the mother of two fell in while walking her dog after dropping her daughters off at school, a hypothesis which her family and friends disagree with. Faulding, who was called in by the family and is assisting police with the search, said: “We’ve done very thorough searches all the way down to the weir. Police divers have dived it three times, extremely thoroughly.

“That area is completely negative – there is no sign of Nicola in that area. The main focus will be the police investigation down the river, which leads out to the estuary. If Nicola was in that river I would have found her – I guarantee you that – and she’s not in that section of the river.”

Faulding, whose team deployed a ?55,000 side-scan sonar able to pick up objects underwater, added: “I’m totally baffled by this one, to be honest.”

He told reporters that he believes it is “unlikely” that she has been swept out to sea, adding: “My personal view is that I think it is a long way to go in a tidal river.”

On Wednesday, Bulley’s partner visited the area where police believe she fell into the River Wyre. Paul Ansell spent 10 minutes along the riverbank near the bench where his partner’s phone was discovered still connected to a work Microsoft Teams call. Ansell spoke with Faulding at the scene.

Lancashire constabulary say they remain “fully open-minded” over Bulley’s disappearance but their “working hypothesis” is that she fell into the river while taking her dog, Willow, for a walk.

Extensive searches have taken place along a 9 mile (15km) stretch of the River Wyre, a tidal river that ends at the sea in Fleetwood, going out to Morecambe Bay.

Police have urged the public not to “take the law into their own hands” in the search. Lancashire constabulary told amateur detectives not to abuse witnesses or attempt to break into empty or derelict buildings along the River Wyre near where she disappeared.

Supt Sally Riley, the lead investigator, said although people “may mean well, they may want to help”, police are “taking a strong line” on criminal damage and harassment.

This is one of my favorite missing persons blogs. I think the author did a really good job on this case. There are also pics and video of the bench, river and area in the article. I just don't see the river being that dangerous, even if she fell in. It looks like it would be easy to get out of. But honestly I don't think that's what happened. Also, this article notes the dog was dry, which I think is interesting. If you are into missing persons cases I highly recommend this blog.

Well, it looks like they've found her. With all of the searching in the waters, it's beyond me why it took so long. I'm curious to find out the COD if they still can after all of this time:

A body has been found in a river during the search for missing mother-of-two Nicola Bulley, British police have said.

The 45-year-old mortgage adviser vanished in St Michael's on Wyre while walking her dog after dropping her daughters, aged six and nine, at school on 27 January.

A Lancashire Police spokesman said officers were called to reports of a body in the River Wyre close to Rawcliffe Road at around 11.35am.

A statement said: "An underwater search team and specialist officers have subsequently attended the scene, entered the water and have sadly recovered a body.

"No formal identification has yet been carried out, so we are unable to say whether this is Nicola Bulley at this time. Procedures to identify the body are ongoing.

"We are currently treating the death as unexplained.

"Nicola's family have been informed of developments and our thoughts are with them at this most difficult of times. We ask that their privacy is respected."

The investigation into her disappearance has attracted widespread speculation as well as criticism of the police response.

The force came under fire after making Ms Bulley's struggles with alcohol and peri-menopause public three weeks after she vanished.

In a press conference on Wednesday, they revealed the mother-of-two was classed as a "high-risk" missing person immediately after her partner Paul Ansell reported her disappearance, "based on a number of specific vulnerabilities".

They later added in a statement that Ms Bulley, from Inskip in Lancashire, had stopped taking her HRT medication.

A public backlash and interventions from both the British government and shadow home secretary Yvette Cooper followed, with Lancashire Police confirming a date had been set for an internal review into the investigation.

A police spokeswoman said: "A review of the investigation is diarised and will be conducted by our head of crime detective Chief Superintendent Pauline Stables."

I have to admit I wasn't expecting them to find her in the river. If you look at the link I posted yesterday that river has no real current and is only 3 feet deep in that area. How could they not see her in the water that first day??

That's what I'm wondering. They EXTENSIVELY searched that river and didn't find her. I'm curious about the condition of her body. Somebody could have placed her in the river after the fact. Stranger things have happened.

Yeah, either they all don't know their ass from their elbow or someone put her there later on. This isn't a HUGE body of water we're talking about here and the search was supposedly extensive.

Ruled accidental - said the water was extremely cold and would have taken minutes to drown.

    https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/...ssault-inquest

Witnesses heard a short gasping scream on the morning Nicola Bulley disappeared, her inquest has been told, with other testimony suggesting the mortgage broker drowned with no evidence of third-party harm or alcohol in her bloodstream.

Two villagers told the inquest in Preston they heard a scream on the morning of 27 January.

?My immediate thought was someone is having fun at the back of the graveyard,? said Veronica Claesen, the secretary of the village tennis club. It was an ?inhale? scream, she said, not an ?exhale one?. She described it as a drawing in of breath, a scream someone would make if they were suddenly surprised by something.

Helen O?Neill, a nurse, also heard the scream, which was over in a couple of seconds, she said. ?I pictured in my head it was two females, teenagers, walking on the river path and one jumped out on the other.?

Bulley?s body was found more than three weeks later on 19 February, about a mile from where she was first reported missing.

The 24-day police search was unlike any other UK missing person investigation anyone could recall. It has been described as a ?carnival of hysteria? and became the focus of intense media attention, a social media frenzy of conspiracy theories and drew online sleuths, influencers and psychics to the Lancashire village of St Michael?s on Wyre, where she was last seen.

On Monday, Alison Armour, a Home Office pathologist, told the inquest all the evidence suggested Bulley died as a result of drowning. Her forehead was caked in mud, Armour said, and dirt found in her body was among ?typical features we see in cases of drowning?. Her lungs were enlarged and watery fluid was found in her body.

Tiny traces of alcohol were found but they could be explained by a postmortem process involving bacteria, she said.

The coroner, Dr James Adeley, asked: ?At the time of her death, she essentially had no alcohol in her bloodstream?? Armour replied: ?That?s my opinion.?

Armour was asked if there was evidence Bulley had been assaulted or if there was any third-party involvement. She replied no.

PC Matthew Thackray, a police diver, said he believed Bulley fell into the water, describing a fairly steep and then vertical slope down to the river.

The water temperature would have been about 4C and felt more like freezing, he said. It is likely the river would have carried Bulley downriver at about a metre a second.

Two experts on cold water shock gave evidence. Prof Mike Tipton said it would have taken seconds and only ?one or two breaths in of water to be a lethal dose?.

He added: ?In my opinion, given the nature of the likely entry into the water, I would suspect Nikki had a gasp response under the water, initiating the drowning process. On the balance of probability, there was a fairly rapid incapacitation due to the cold shock.?

Peter Faulding, who searched for Nicola at the request of her family says she was not in that section of the river when he searched for her.

    https://www.independent.co.uk/news/u...-b2290844.html

A diving specialist who searched for missing mother Nicola Bulley has been struck from the National Crime Agency?s (NCA) list of experts.

Peter Faulding led a team of experts and divers to assist Lancashire Police in searching the river for the missing dog walker using specialist sonar equipment.

Specialist Group International (SGI), led by Mr Faulding, was suspended this week while a review is carried out, law enforcement sources confirmed to The Times.

During the protracted search for Bulley, Mr Faulding did not shy away in his criticism of how the investigation was handled, describing the probe as ?a mess? and claiming details in the case ?don?t add up?. Most recently, he insisted he had been a ?fall guy? in her disappearance.

Mr Faulding, who has aided numerous police investigations, was asked by Bulley?s family to help as police searched for the missing mother of two in the village of St Michael?s on Wyre.

His team was given two-and-a-half days to scan a three-mile stretch of the river, between St Michael?s and Cartford Bridge, using a sonar device ? but the search came up short.

Mr Faulding then declared to the press that the 45-year-old was not in the river and suggested her phone, discovered by a dog walker on the bench near where she disappeared, may have been a ?decoy?.

?If Nicola was in that river I would have found her ? I guarantee you that ? and she?s not in that section of the river,? he said on 8 February.

Bulley?s body was pulled from the River Wyre last Sunday 0.9 miles downstream of St Michael?s on Wyre. She was found by members of the public who alerted police to a suspected body.

The NCA?s Expert Advisers Database (EAD), which is used to identify and source experts who can add value to law enforcement investigations, had previously listed Mr Faulding as a registered search expert.

A spokesperson for the NCA said: ?The NCA does not employ, endorse or accredit experts on our adviser database. The database is subject to continual review and its purpose is to maintain a list of expertise UK law enforcement can draw upon when required.

So they removed Peter Faulding because he didn't find her body or because he criticized the search?

Welcome! I just feel like this case is so strange for me. They are basically saying is that it was so cold she almost died immediately and it took about two breaths to succumb in the water. I was a competitive swimmer for years and I understand how dangerous the water can be. I've won races and I've also been pulled out of the water by lifeguards because the current was pulling me under and pushing me out and no technique or speed was getting me out of that. The water was 13 ft deep in the area they say she drowned in and if you are shocked by the cold and also cant swim I can see drowning in that. I was pulled out of water that was less than 13 FT deep. What I don't get is that for search purposes - this water is not that deep. How did someone who has this level of experience, using sonar technology not see the body BUT the police find it.

I dunno. This just doesn't sit well with me. I get that you can drown easier than you would think, but something is seriously fucky about this whole thing.
