I read a tabloid (could be completely false) that said the police took garden shears, a computer and the family car.

So they think the husband did this?

But why would they search her house if she was abducted?

Was she or someone else in the home getting threats? Is there any evidence that she was leading a risky lifestyle? Dealing drugs, sex work, visiting sus sites? Did husband have a side piece who might have done something... Lot's of reasons.

This does makes sense and she had to have been targeted because I just can't see someone driving around and randomly snatching someone off the street at that hour. It was obviously planned and carried out according to her routine.

The thing that worries me is that there hasn't been a ransom for her yet. Usually that happens rather quickly. I still wouldn't rule out someone close to her dispatching of her and making it look like a kidnapping. If she was worth that much alive through family, she might be worth a lot dead too....

Did I miss it somewhere as to how they know she was forced in a car? Surveillance? Witnesses?

You didn't miss it, but I just assumed that they had it on video. She was near the University so they had to have had surveillance cameras around.

Here's a Heavy article about the arrested suspect:

Cleotha Abston, Eliza Fletcher Suspect: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know

Cleotha Abston is the Memphis man accused of kidnapping pre-kindergarten teacher Eliza Fletcher, who was snatched in Tennessee while jogging in the early morning hours of September 2, 2022.

A review of Abston?s criminal history by Heavy shows that he spent years in prison for a carjacking of a defense attorney at gunpoint. The man was stuffed into a trunk, but managed to escape the robbers when they took him to a gas station to withdraw money from an ATM machine, according to a 2000 article in the Commercial Appeal newspaper accessed through Newspapers.com.
Shelby County, Tennessee, court records reviewed by Heavy show that Abston was also charged with ?especially aggravated kidnapping? in 2000. He entered a guilty plea, court records show. He received 24 years in prison, starting in November 2001.

According to FOX13 Investigates, Cleotha Abston was eligible for release after 85% of his 24-year prison sentence, and got out ?sometime in the past two years.?
Fucking lovely. He was recently released from prison.
Charged with Especially Aggravated Kidnapping and Tampering with Evidence, so far.

I wonder if his plan was to hold her for ransom. Then she could still be alive.

Is it standard to take gardening shears and the family car, when they saw a vehicle, not the family car, take her? I feel like there's a missing piece.
Did the husband want her gone?

I considered that but I also thought how easy it would be to pay a guy like Abston to nab her and off her.
Clothing in a dumpster does not look good and they definitely found something.

Well, either someone hired him or it was completely random. The latter is something that terrifies me the most. Wrong place, wrong time, no reason.

And him being seen in the same area over 20 minutes before - was he waiting for her or just looking for any victim?

They're basically saying without saying it that she's dead. Apparently the amount of blood found in the SUV was considered to be a pretty critical wound. RBW seems to be correct that she was dead before he left the parking lot with her.

Now, if someone wanted her dead and hired the guy remains to be seen.

    RIP Liza.

How was someone able to walk across the kidnapping area and find the sandals? Why wasn't the area taped off right away and why didn't the cops find the shoes?
