I view Lil Nas' music as not really being rap though. I know he's in the genre, but it's so much more than just rap and the way he takes what he's feeling and turns it in to pure art is something to behold. No offense to rappers out there, but his subject matter on his last release is so much more cerebral than the majority of rappers out there and most of his songs are more singing than rap. I never heard pf this band, either. It's very true that most of what I listen to is classic rock/metal - but I do get into new music. That said, the new music I listen to fits in very well with the other older stuff I love - like, The Pretty Reckless, Halestorm, Dirty Honey, etc.

Rap is my favI feel like it gets a bad rap (ha) but a lot of it is like poetry, there are some really good songs with good lyrics. You just have to branch out from some of the garbage played on the radio.
Also, some songs are just fun and make my heart happy and make me dance. It puts me in a good mood.

I'm old now. I don't listen to anything made after 2015. All of the mumble rap is not for me. I've never heard a Lizzo or Nas X song (that one song with Billy Ray Cyrus annoyed me). I'm so old that I listen podcasts in the car. :(
The truth is that I'm not around enough young people to tell me what they're saying. I hate getting old.

@Nic - I don't listen to the radio (only my playlist and Sirius/XM), so if it was recently popular, no. And I take it he is a rapper, so I definitely have not heard it. Yes, I am boring, but I love my grunge and rock music.
