Fatima Johnson (54) Found Bound and Dead Inside LA Home

It sounds like they know who did this judging by the statements from the family. Husband? Boyfriend? Bound and gagged points to robbery to me, but they didn't mention that in the article.

(Sorry for the gigantic photo. I'm not sure why it came out the size of a billboard)

LOS ANGELES - A South Los Angeles woman was discovered bound, gagged with duct tape and beaten to death inside her home over the weekend. Authorities said that the body of Fatima Johnson had been found rolled up a blanket inside her home located in the 7600 block of South Western Avenue.*

Family members told FOX 11 that Johnson had been missing for a few days so they went looking for her. "We hadn?t heard from my mother for over the last 48 hours," Johnson's daughter, Tyesa Harvey told FOX 11. "My sisters and I contacted her best friend and we got her key, and my sisters found my mother inside her home? dead.

"Relatives located Johnson unconscious and not breathing around 11:30 p.m. Saturday night and called the police. Arriving paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene around 12:05 a.m. Sunday, the Los Angeles Police Department reported.

"My mom was bonded with her mouth gagged, wrapped in a blanket as if the person we suspect to have murdered her was attempting to wrap her body up so he could dispose of it," Harvey said. Investigators have yet to name any possible suspects in the killing.

A prayer vigil and news conference will be held for Johnson at 6 p.m. Monday at 7600 S. Western Avenue. Anyone with information was encouraged to call the LAPD.

They still haven't identified a suspect, but apparently the boyfriend is a person of interest. I had a feeling. Full article at the link:

SOUTH LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- The family of a 53-year-old woman who was found dead, with tape over her mouth and her hands bound inside her home in South Los Angeles over the weekend is pleading for answers, with authorities saying they have not identified a suspect. The victim's boyfriend has been named a person of interest.

An ex-con who served time in prison on a double-murder case was ordered Friday to stand trial for allegedly killing his girlfriend in her South Los Angeles apartment.

Superior Court Judge George G. Lomeli rejected a defense motion to dismiss or reduce the latest murder count against Darryl Lamar Collins, 52, of Baldwin Park.

Collins is charged with the July 2, 2021 asphyxiation of his 53-year-old girlfriend, Fatima Johnson, whose daughters found her bound, gagged and wrapped in a blanket in her apartment in the 7600 block of South Western Avenue after she failed to show up for work or respond to text messages.

In June 2022, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office added a special-circumstance allegation of a prior first-degree murder conviction.

Thanks for updating this case, RBW. It sounded as if they did know who did this and I guess I was right
