Misogynistic influencers are trending right now. Defusing their message is a complex task
If they start their periods at school they won't even be allowed to ask a teacher for help or a pad. This is nothing but an attempt to make girls ignorant and ashamed of their bodies. I am more pissed off about this than anything else they are doing here, and I AM pissed off about all the rest. It's not like getting your period is a choice, and a lot of girls get it young these days. My niece was 9 when she got hers. If these girls are in one of the many households where adults are too embarrassed or just don't get around to talking about it, can you imagine the fear that will come with getting your period and not having any health education on what is about to happen...and not being allowed to talk to a trusted adult about it?

Girls need to know about their periods. Now Florida Republicans want to ban that, too.
We'll soon have to cover our bodies and faces with the exception of our eyes.

Man arrested after appearing to grope female reporter in the middle of her live report in Spain
Police in Madrid have arrested a man on suspicion of sexually assaulting a Spanish journalist while she was reporting live on TV. Isa Balado, a reporter for Spanish broadcaster Cuatro, was reporting live on an armed robbery in Madrid Tuesday when a man walked up behind her and appeared to touch her bottom.
Balado tried to continue her live report but the news program's host, Nacho Abad, interrupted and asked Balado if she had been assaulted by the man.
When Balado confirmed the incident, Abad asked her to put the "idiot" on camera, and the camera turned to put the man back in the shot.
The man was seen smiling before Balado confronted him, saying: "As much as you want to ask what channel we are from, do you really have to touch my bottom? I'm doing a live show and I'm working."
The man denied touching her and after a brief exchange he walked away.
Spain's National Police force said in a tweet Thursday that a man was arrested Tuesday for "sexually assaulting a reporter while she was doing a television live shot." The post showed the man being escorted in handcuffs.Labour Minister Yolanda Diaz said in a social media post Tuesday that "Machismo is what causes journalists to have to suffer sexual assaults like this and why the aggressors are without any remorse in front of the camera."
"It cannot go unpunished," Diaz added.
I had this exact same thing happen to me in the 90's. Fuck these doctors that do this. Just like this girl, I didn't even want kids and they wouldn't treat my condition just on the fact that I was of childbearing age.

What is no-fault divorce, and why do some conservatives want to get rid of it?
Following what some conservatives view as legal victories on the battlegrounds of abortion rights and affirmative action, a number of politicians and influencers are turning their attention to another long-held construct: No-fault divorce.
Right-wing commentators like Steven Crowder and Matt Walsh have ramped up complaints in recent months that it is too easy for people — specifically women — to get divorces. All states currently have some version of a no-fault divorce law, but Republicans in Texas and Nebraska list the dissolution or restriction of no-fault divorce in their state party political platforms.
In Louisiana earlier this year, state GOP members debated officially backing the dissolution of no-fault divorce, but no decision was made. A lack of full-on legislative attempts to curb the practice hasn’t stopped an abundance of conservative anti-divorce rhetoric, or an answering wave of fear from progressives.
Newly minted House Speaker Mike Johnson has been a vocal opponent of no-fault divorce, which allows couples to obtain a divorce without proving fault — and without both parties agreeing to the split. In a 2016 sermon, he claimed it turned the United States into a “completely amoral society.”
Though no-fault divorce was first legalized more than 50 years ago, it has long been sneered at in conservative circles, who see it as a danger to the sanctity of marriage and the concept of the American family.
For feminists, human rights advocates and others, no-fault divorce is an important buttress for gender equality and directly addresses issues like marital abuse. Many legal minds also see no-fault divorce as a common-sense legal path that reduces unnecessary burdens on courts and couples alike.
It may not seem political on its surface, but the history of no-fault divorce in the US reveals a clear connection to these social issues and outlines why some feel so strongly about protecting it while others seek to tear it down.More at link. Before no-fault divorce, a woman in the US who was in an abusive or exploitative marriage didn’t have many options. Husbands typically controlled a family’s finances, and the social stigma for seeking divorce — not to mention the difficult process of having to prove “fault” — was a major deterrent. These problems got more complicated if a husband didn’t want a divorce.
“Under US laws, every person has a right to divorce, even if your spouse says no,” said Rigo.
Since 1969, studies have shown no-fault divorce correlates with a reduction in female suicides and a reduction in intimate partner violence. A 2004 paper by economists Betsey Stevenson and Justin Wolvers found an 8 to 16% decrease in female suicides after states enacted no-fault divorce laws. They also noted a roughly 30% decrease in intimate partner violence among both women and men, and a 10% drop in women murdered by their partners.
“Unilateral divorce both potentially increases the likelihood that a domestic violence relationship ends and acts to transfer bargaining power toward the abused,” the study states.
Conservative politicians and commentators, along with some religious and social groups, say unilateral divorce degrades the American family unit and adversely affects men, children, and the economy.

Woman describes horror of learning husband drugged her so others could rape her
A French woman who was raped by unknown men over 10 years after being drugged to sleep by her husband told a court of her horror at learning how she had been abused.
Gisèle Pélicot, who is 72, was giving evidence on day three of the trial in Avignon, south-east France, of 51 men – including her husband of 50 years, Dominique. All are accused of rape.
Documents before court indicate that Dominique Pélicot, 71, admitted to police that he got satisfaction from watching other men have sex with his unconscious wife. After the truth emerged, Gisèle found that she was carrying four sexually-transmitted diseases.
“I have had no sympathy from any of the accused. One who was HIV-positive came six times. Not once did my husband express any concern about my health,” she said.
She is now in the process of divorcing him.
After speaking for two hours in front of Dominique and the other accused, she said: “Inside me, it is a scene of devastation. The façade may look solid... but behind it...”
