In 2019, Ishi Woney, the 24-year-old pimp suspected of luring Corinna Slusser into his Bronx-based prostitution ring, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for interstate sex trafficking of a minor. He had faced a life sentence, but Manhattan federal Judge Lorna Schofield factored in Woney’s mental health issues, which include bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.
At the hearing, Slusser's mother, Sabina Tuorto, stood up and demanded answers from the admitted sex trafficker.
“Where is Corinna?" the sobbing mother asked. "Is she dead or alive? Who is the last person he handed her off to? Please, Ishi, disclose where my child is.”
Judge Schofield informed Tuorto that she could not legally compel Woney to answer, but he stood up and answered anyway.
“Honestly, I don’t know [where she is]," he said. “I never passed her off to anybody. Is she dead or alive? I’m honestly not sure, but I pray she’s alive.”
