Is it possible that with this not being the first time she's left the kids alone, that one of the kids have put the baby in the oven (maybe to warm him up) and has climbed on the open door before the oven has fallen over ontop of him? I'm not downplaying the mother's responsibility here, but I read (somewhere) that one was found dead in the oven and the other was 'under' it? Either way, it's so sad :( RIP little guys...
I feel like that was an actual thing that happened somewhere. It sounds familiar.
ETA: Yup. Found it: https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/...turn/76164434/
Tread lightly in these waters, noob. I was once like you, and I couldn't for the life of me see things the way I do now.
There are reasons beyond your current (very limited) understanding, and based on your post and despite your self admission of a high IQ, you don't understand at all.
Otherwise normal people develop issues in this thing called "life" due to changes in brain chemistry all the time. Depression, addictions, ...you name it. And yes, they are classified as "mental illnesses" because there is truly something wrong.
Somethings wrong enough to allow this person to think that doing these things actually is okay, that it will actually solve a problem instead of creating one or more.
Oh, and denigrating this site and it's members will earn you the ban hammer quick, so please tread lightly on the thin ice currently beneath your feet.
Y
Do yourself a favor. Lose the "all or nothing" way of thinking and actually learn about the potential for suffering different medical conditions.
Yes, it was hella wrong for this bitch to do what she did. But it is also possible that she was batshit crazy out of her goddamn mind when she did it, and that can result from numerous causes. Moms just don't randomly say "meh, fuck it, I'm just gonna cook my babies."
Our sympathy only extends far enough that we understand a few things.
One is that normal people, as I said, don't kill their kids.
Secondly, we know that this stinks of mental illness, because we've seen it hundreds and hundreds of times before.
Third, unlike you, we don't lump everyone into the same pile. Mental illnesses are treatable, sometimes. Sometimes, no matter what doctors do, they just can't successfully treat some people. We don't know that this isn't one of those cases.
How about you chill your goddamn jets until we actually have information. You jumping to conclusions without all the facts makes you an asshole. Yes, what she did was wrong, we know that. But there are cases (especially with women), where their mental illness could not allow them to prevent it.
Just a thought.
Don't like what I have to say? I respect that. Go fuck yourself.
Totally agree most people chose their addiction then use the word as an excuse.
Will totally disagree that drug addicts can't help themselves. They made a choice to start. They are usually introduced via friends, they see what it has done to them. They may act like a victim of addiction but that's the typical mentality .
No matter what, this woman knew what those children would feel when placed into an oven and it was turned on. Guarantee she's cooked something, before.
Actually if she had a true psychotic break, she may not have known they were her kids at the time. They could have been satan for all she knew. There has been no indication as of yet that this is her claim but I'm not sure what you guys don't understand about crazy. Crazy means Crazy. There is no, she knew this or she knew that. If she was crazy, nothing she knew was logical or sane.
Per the definition of "crazy" ....I'm sure that she was. A lot of parents have killed their children for different reasons, some due to holding them back from dating...all sort of reasons yet they were not crazy, they were selfish. Killing one's child (in my opinion) you'd have to "crazy" in some sort of way.
This was a bad one, also a case of contacting his wife saying "hey, guess what I just did". There may be a thread on this, here. I'm not a big "kid" person but damn. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...ce-parole.html
I had postpartum psychosis. Never once did I consider taking my children?s lives. My own? Hell yeah. But not the kids.
Addicts may have chosen to start but once addiction takes hold, they are in its grips and make decisions based on disrupted brain chemistry. At some point, their actions are no longer entirely their own. I used to think like you until I watched addiction ravage loved ones.
I probably would have said something like that too before I watched my brother struggle for years, lose his family, his friends and eventually his life.
I didn't understand what he was going through because it wasn't my experience. I'd tried drugs and never got addicted to them.
Looking back, my bother was extremely unhappy, depressed, and most definitely had an undiagnosed mental illness that he was self medicating for. I think that if he knew how it would all turn out for him and for the people he left behind his decision would have been different. I understand your thought process but drug/alcohol addiction is a disease, not a choice. Mental illness is a serious problem and we don't try hard enough to understand it, myself included.

An Atlanta mother will spend the rest of her life in prison after killing her toddlers by placing them inside an oven.
She was convicted on several charges, including murder, and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole plus 35 years on Friday, Fox 5 Atlanta reports. Williams pleaded not guilty and has maintained her innocence.
The investigation began after Williams, then 24, first called the police seven years ago to report her children were dead.
"When I came in, the stove was laying on my son, on my youngest son’s head, and my other son was laid out on the floor with his brains laid out on the floor. I don’t know what to do. I just came home from work," Williams told the 911 operator, according to Fox 5 Atlanta.
WTF did it take this long??? I mean, WTF?
