Police officials were asking the public for help in locating a missing Van Wert man with connections to Lima.

Kori Glossett, 25, has been missing since his birthday on June 16, when his father last heard from him. Glossett?s father, Jeffrey Glossett reported him missing on July 21, Van Wert Police Department officials reported.

Investigators have checked on several leads from various sources including people associated with Glossett and social media but with no luck, officials reported.

Investigators want to determine Glossett?s whereabouts and make sure he?s safe, officials said.

Glossett talked about wanting to go to Knoxville, Tennessee, and Van Wert officials have contacted police officials in that town just in case, investigators said.

Glossett is described as 5 foot 5, weighing 165 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

Van Wert Police Department Lt. Douglas Weigle said investigators have no credible information to suggest whether Glossett disappeared on his own accord or something happened to him.

?I don?t have any reason to tell you there is foul play but the longer it goes the more worried I get,? Weigle said.

Weigle asked anyone with information on Glossett or his whereabouts to contact the Police Department at 419-238-2462 or if they want to remain anonymous to call Crime Stoppers at 419-238-7867.

Glossett has hung out in Lima, last lived in Delphos, and is from Van Wert but floated around between locations where he stayed, Weigle said.

Jury finds Gear guilty of felony charge

A three-day jury trial ended with a guilty verdict against a Middle Point man charged with tampering with evidence.

The verdict against Dale Gear, 57, was handed down Wednesday in Van Wert County Common Pleas Court.

    Dale Gear
Gear was indicted by a Van Wert County grand jury in August of 2021, in connection with the June, 2016 disappearance of Kori Glossett of Van Wert. Investigators learned that Gear had bonded Glossett out of jail June 24, 2016. Glossett disappeared the following day and has not been seen since.

Investigators retrieved samples of suspected blood from Gear’s home, garage and truck, but there were problems caused by limits on testing at the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation.

Gear’s property was searched again in July of last year and a bag with a towel and other items was found in a laundry chute in the home. Investigators said the bag was not there during the search five years earlier.

The indictment, filed days after the search, alleged that Gear did, on or about June 24, 2016, “alter, destroy, conceal or remove” potential evidence connected to Glossett’s disappearance.

Gear is scheduled to be sentenced at 8:30 a.m. July 27. He faces up to three years in prison.
