Can we have a party now? Finally!Crystal Rogers' former boyfriend, Brooks Houck, arrested in connection with her disappearance
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The primary suspect in the disappearance of Crystal Rogers was arrested and indicted Wednesday, according to FBI Louisville.
Brooks Houck was arrested "without incident" on charges stemming from the Rogers investigation, the FBI wrote.
The indictment is sealed and more details will be released at his arraignment in early October. It is unclear if a bond has been set.

Finally, about time
May Brooks rot. I can't believe how long its taken.
So I was reading the notes from the pretrial hearing today and found this tid bit interesting:
Im confused about the gun buying.1:41 p.m.
The judge said he is very concerned for the safety of the witnesses.
He said his office is also investigating the murder of Tommy Ballard which they believe will be linked.
Young said they purchased a gun from Nick Houck and are currently testing it. They believe that was the weapon used to kill Tommy Ballard, Crystal's father who was mysteriously murdered a year after her disappearance.
This might clarify things a bit:
Additional information from the article that I found interesting:As part of a hearing on a motion to lower Houck's $10 million bond, Young told Judge Charles Simms III that, during the state's investigation, a rifle was purchased from Nick Houck, Brook's brother, who was using a fake name. Young said it's the same caliber as the gun used in Ballard's death and so far matches four of the five criteria they were looking at in comparison.
https://www.wdrb.com/news/crime-repo...7a5217b44.htmlYoung also said that Houck's family members ? including Nick Houck, his mother and sister ? secretly recorded grand jury proceedings, which are supposed to be secret, when they were testifying shortly after the murder.
"The question is why?" Young said, adding that he's never seen anyone do that before. "I think everyone in this courtroom knows why: to make sure everyone's stories is consistent."
So did an undercover officer buy the gun? How did the police get it?
A newly-released document from the Nelson County Circuit Court confirms that a dig site, where WAVE News crews saw authorities digging as part of a “murder investigation” in Nelson County, has been confirmed as a possible location for the body of Crystal Rogers.
Her former boyfriend, Brooks Houck, has been charged with the murder, while two other suspects, Stephen Lawson and Joseph Lawson, have been charged with helping Houck cover it up.

I wonder why they are looking into it now and not earlier if they knew about it?
Im not too optimistic if they were using equipment and burning something, that long ago.
But I really hope they find her.
I forget, was Brooks crocked cop brother ever arrested?
@Angie - I really think it was the fact that the Houck family had a lot of influence in Bardstown. Crystal's mom has been relentless; that coupled with the online attention on the case likely put a great deal of pressure on the investigators to really dig deeper into things.
From what I recall, his brother was questioned (fired), but never arrested.
I thought we had a separate thread for Kathy and Samantha Netherland. Didn't find one, so will post this here.
Full story here: https://www.wave3.com/2024/04/22/dec...therland-case/The sister of the victim of one of Kentucky’s most heinous unsolved crimes says there is video showing the moment the killer entered Kathy Netherland’s home.
Although the video isn’t clear enough to discern the person’s identity, it’s one piece of evidence Kentucky State Police never released or told the public they had.
Stacey Hibbard hopes new advances in technology can help make an arrest after a decade since the murder of Kathy and her daughter Samantha happened inside of their Botland, Kentucky home on April 22, 2014.
The home where the murders happened is now rented after it was auctioned off for $40,000. Ten painful years have gone by without a single arrest or even a named suspect. During that time, KSP has only released a picture of a black Chevy Impala they said they believed was involved, though they never specified how.
But now WAVE News has learned that KSP knew the Impala was connected more than simply being in the vicinity.
“There is footage of the car, where the car drives past Kathy’s house, coming from Bardstown going towards Springfield,” Hibbard said. “Then within a minute or two comes back, which makes you think they looped around a Botland loop that’s just down the road.”
Hibbard says the video was taken from the liquor store across the street. She says once the car disappears from behind the home, a dark figure walks across the porch to the front door. A few seconds later, someone appears to let that person in.
Then the car leaves less than 15 minutes later. Hibbard believes Kathy was shot first in the living room; Samantha brutally attacked moments after coming out of her room.
“We have no reason to believe that Kathy and Samantha that their deaths were related in any way to Officer Ellis, to Crystal Rogers or her father Tommy Ballard,” Hibbard said.
She believes Samantha may have been the main target, though she can’t imagine why.

https://www.wlky.com/article/brooks-...e-set/62886640A court document filed in Nelson Circuit Court read that the family of Crystal Rogers "hereby invoke their right to a trial without unreasonable delay."
The constitution states that the victim's rights "shall be respected and protected by law in a manner no less vigorous than the protection afforded to the accused...," the document reads.
Further, the document noted that the Commonwealth requests the trial of Stephen Eugene Lawson proceed on May 27 without delay.
Original Story:
Stephen Lawson, one of the three mencharged in connection with the disappearance of Crystal Rogers in Bardstown, is asking for his jury trial to be pushed back from its current February date.
The judge previously ruled that Lawson would be able to be tried separately from the other two men charged in the case. Lawson is charged with conspiracy to commit murder and tampering with evidence.
Brooks Houck, along with Steve and Joseph Lawson, are charged in Rogers' murder. She disappeared from Nelson County in 2015 and has not been found since.
Houck is charged with murder, while both Lawsons are charged with complicity to murder.Houck and Joseph were scheduled to have a hearing for their trial date in December, but a judge has set their trial date for June 24, 2025.
The two trials will be held in Warren County.
I really hope this finally gets some resolve.
New court documents reveal a third hair found in the trunk of a car owned by the Houck family nearly a decade ago was similar to Crystal Rogers' hair.
Nelson County Judge Charles Simms has ordered two hairs found in the missing Bardstown mother's abandoned car in 2016 undergo new DNA testing.
According to a 2016 report from Kentucky State Police, a third hair, approximately seven-eighths of an inch, was also found in the trunk of a white Buick owned by Anna Whitesides, Brooks Houck's grandmother.
Investigators said the hair "appeared to be similar" to Rogers' hair.https://www.whas11.com/article/news/...2-b1b1f29f8a7fSoon after Rogers' disappearance, a witness reported seeing a white Buick in a "peculiar location" on the Houck's family farm.
Law enforcement officers discovered the car was owned by Whitesides and obtained a search warrant for the vehicle.
According to court documents, investigators believed the car was used to dispose of Rogers' body and had been cleaned and later sold in an attempt to prevent police from finding evidence.
