I think this show is going to be huge.

Based in part on William Shakespeare's King Lear and James Goldman's The Lion in Winter,[4] the show centers around a hip hop music and entertainment company, Empire Enterprises, and the drama among the members of the founders' family as they fight for control of the company. The hour-long family drama was created by Lee Daniels and Danny Strong, and stars Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson.

The music is pretty good too.

Cuba gooding was on. Geez, he still looks good.
Mrs bitchy naomi Campbell was on too and she's a cougar. LOL it took me a minute to figure out who she was.

I really love the storyline with the gay son. He's handsome, a great singer and he should be the star, but dad won't do it bc he is gay. I love how cookie supports him. It was pretty intense when dad went to see him.

I also like the fact that the other son is bipolar. His wife is nutty.

We were oddly touched the other night when Boo Boo Kitty - that's what we call her cuz we're Team Cookie here - shaved him after finding out about the ALS. That was a touching moment.

And, yeah, that hairstyle makes me nuts, too.

When Jamal came out...that was amazing. I loved the fact that all his family gave him the thumbs up (well except dad)
When he was playing with his daughter.....

I have to say- the bipolar brother's storyline is really pulling me in. They have made him the most complex person on the show. When he was sitting in the recording studio with the gun to his head- it actually made me hold my breath. The pain on his face was prefect.

My daughter asked me if Courtney Love was really a singer.

God, I love, love, love this show. It's so exceptionally well written and well acted.

Jussie Smollet - Jamal - came out on Ellen. Well, I think he's been out forever, but he confirmed it. I saw the interview. He was delightful. I love him even more now. What a great, stand up kid with a super supportive mom. :awesome:

Come on Ron. I grew up in the 80's. Who hasn't seen the movie House Party? Ha. I think they even had a cartoon out.



Empire was so good the other night. I can't wait for the 2 hour finale.

Jussie and yazz were on America Idol the other night. Jazz starts out kind of scratchy, but once Jussie joins him he kicks ass. It's amazing how good they are together versus when they sing apart.

That was a great season finale.

I get the feeling they switched the ending when they realized Empire was a huge hit. There were parts in the last hour that felt a little stitched together so the show could continue next season.

I died when Hakeem and Anika were caught. I'm still waiting for the paramedics. How could they...eww! I'm team Lucious. He may be scum, but at least he tried to clean up his act. They killed Vernon!
