Dustin and Clinton Toschlog were stolen from their Oklahoma City home last Thanksgiving. Thanks to their mother's perseverance and Oklahoma's child-stealing laws, the boys should be back home before school starts.
The 7 and 11-year-old boys are among more than 100 children reported stolen annually. Police say only about 20 are actual child-stealing cases where one parent takes a child from an ex-spouse who legally has custody.
In the Toschlog boys' case, they were taken by their father, Albert Toschlog, and criss-crossed the country before settling in California, authorities say.
Their mother, Brenda Toschlog, tracked them to San Bernardino and filed a complaint with Oklahoma City police. The Oklahoma County district attorney's office has filed child-stealing charges against Toschlog, assistant prosecutor Don Deason said.
