They may not have been able to afford it. IF they had insurance, the annual allowance per year is $10,000. Insurance only covers 80% leaving the patient/family responsible for the other 20%. That money gets eaten up rather quickly.....and I don't believe Stabby would have gone for any treatment. JMHO

And the thing is, we really don't know if the Arias family tried to seek help. It's not fair to judge them, in my opinion. Just knowing how my sister was, and how she refused to go see any type of 'head doctor', I can imagine the fits Jodi would have thrown if anyone would have dared approach her with the suggestion of medical intervention for her problems.

BTW, I have never heard of Oppositional Defiant Disorder, but wow. Some of those symptoms really fit my sister. I wonder now if she wouldn't have been diagnosed with that if she had been tested. Not that it would have done much good. My sister never does anything she doesn't want to.

all the reading i did on the subject as my daughter got older, pointed towards Oppositional Defiant Disorder being the pre-adolescent diagnosis of anti-social personality disorder. i have not kept up to date on reading since she left my house, and she turns 20 next week.

if the defense subpoena's patti, can they make her testify?? or can she get a dr excuse - or if she said she is afraid, can they make her testify and just close the court?? does patti have any rights to just say no she doesn't want to to it?

Technically should the defense try to subpoena Patti she can only testify to the facts that she knows personally. That being said, if the only experiences that she has had with JA are based on the false persona that JA showed to most everyone that got sucked in by her, that is what Pattie has to testify to. Unfortunately for Pattie, this will further inflame the hate mongers to pursue and harass her. I really hope for her sake she isn't forced into doing this.

I would think that to subpoena a character witness would be a bad idea. They can make her appear, but they can't make her say what they want her to say. And forcing her to appear would be counter productive to that, I think.

By the way The State vs. Jodi Arias denies they ever posted a map to Patti's house.

I don't know if they did or not, but I would not put it past them... they are kind of nuts.

I dont know if they should stop televising trials, but I think people should stop harassing the family and friends of the perpetrators of a crime. I think the level of hate going on in this current trial is getting a little out of hand.

I agree. They don't seem like they have a lot of cash lying around to pay for counseling (which is very expensive BTW, even if you have insurance - which they may not). Our country is really stupid when it comes to health care - especially mental health care. Even crazy people shooting up movie theaters or supermarket parking lots cannot convince some people that - hey, we need better access to mental health care. It makes me angry.

The only thing that matters Thursday is whether or not she grants the delay. We should get the answer to that pretty soon.
I assume it would be too prejudicial for all of us to hear Jodi's complaints that she couldn't put on a defense because no one will speak for her mitigating circumstances.

Of course they were called back.It was said they were Sightseeing and could not get back in time.What family goes sightseeing when their child might be sentenced to death.What Mother or Father would not hang on to every word the jury said about their child.

where did you read she went to court and became emancipated- she just moved out when she was 17 and her parents didn't/ couldn't stop her

huh??? the were at the grand canyon sight seeing - the pics are on angela's fb and donavan said on NG they were told it was just a jury question and thats why they didn't come back- why would they be out looking for the gun at the grand canyon - especially when it would make her more guilty?

my friends son was diagnosed w/ that and it is just awful, almost impossible to deal w. he had to have a school aid w/ him since kindegarten because of he was so violent and now that he is 16, his parents are just terrified of him and he has beat the crap out of both of them, plus he knows how to play the system and calls social services and claims abuse if they try to punish him - they have begged the state and insurance co. for help, but no one will help them. and idk why he never had attachment problems he was loved and adored, the only thing i could think that caused it was chemical imbalance and just way to spoiled, and i do assume some day we will be visiting him behind bars, i just hope its nit because he pulls a columbine or sandy hook - i actually see some of the same traits in jodi, her fam is prolly feeling very safe now that she is behind bars

My feelings are just feelings...however known evidence is knowledge...but you know what...that can change to...with time. You can believe or not believe. You can see or not see. after releasing the paperwork, the forman did put the hung jury on a question requests and not on the correct verdict form - i bet thats where all the confusion came from that day - i guess he really didn't read any of the jury instructions
