After seeing many posts about it, i caught up with it tonight. I heard some things so i was ready to go in swinging

I guess it was alright but i think i was expecting a little more excitement. I'll most likely watch the third one..

This is what I get from the commercials: Mom hides her son in a hotel because he does a lot of bad things to women/or predicts a lot of bad things to happen to women.

This is what I get from the commercials: Mom hides her son in a hotel because he does a lot of bad things to women/or predicts a lot of bad things to happen to women.

It's based on the character "Norman Bates" from the Psycho movies. The show depicts Norman's life as a teen with his mother as they move to a new town and buy a motel after his father dies. I guess to show how Norman became the man he was in the movies. It's not the 60's like in the movie, it's present day. So far I have watched one episode but I am going to get caught up tonight!

This is what I think, too. I have decided not to compare the show with the movie(s). I don't see how this show can be a "pre-quel" of the movie with what is going on. I still think it is a good show, I just can't compare it to the movie(s).

I dont think its supposed to be a pre-quel ....I was under the impression it was just another take on the story. I like it either way.

How long have they lived there? It's been, like, a week. They kill a guy, police dude is in love, Norman gets laid, brother gets a job, his drug partner is shot, he runs over drug partners shooter, and Norman and oxygen girl find a sex slave girl.

The motel isn't even open yet.

LOL! One-horse towns can be fun, but short term. I'm digging Vera, too. I can't wrap my head around people my age having grown children either. One of my friends has a college freshman. One has a grandchild. Some are just now having babies. My bff has a two year old and is ready to pop with her second kid on May 2nd.

Hadn't heard of this at all yet, but the premise sounds interesting. Will keep a look out for it when it crosses the pond.

I also hadn't noticed before how much Nestor Carbonell resembles Anthony Perkins either.

if it was. geez! i really liked it. i feel like it was perfectly executed. everything just seemed to line up perfectly, predictable but surprising - if that makes any sense. it's hard to say what i mean without posting examples...
