You guys have heard of the craigslist killer from Boston, right?  That shit, my friends, is why I never meet people on the internet.

I am sure they have questioned the chick, right?

Yep. Women were safe and never assaulted until someone had to go and invent the internet.

I didn't say that.  I think they have easier access now, though.

Meh. If you look at all of the intertnet meetings, I'm guessing that less than 1% end in any type of (unwanted) violence. Sure you hear about this missing dude, but you have any idea how many people met up that weekend without a hitch?

I just don't understand the internet paranoia. Crazy people were around before computers.

Well I haven't had many good experiences meeting people from the internet.  Granted it was only once or twice, it still bugged me out that people can be really dishonest.  I used to believe in the genuine goodness in people, as well as being too trusting.
I obviously understand that crazy people were around before computers.  I just think it's easier for the crazies to get us innocent people over the internet.

Yeah, if there wasn't an internet the crazies would find other ways to meet their victims.  It was the same way with classified ads years ago, and it'll be the same way with the next bit of technology that comes along.

People can be dishonest meeting people face to face, too.  I know a lot of people that have been duped by men/women they've met in bars.  You just take your chances, whether it be the internet or whatever else.

There are people who are duped by people they are married to. There was a lady I used to work with who acted like only crazies used the internet and they didn't exist before that.

Exactly. You take your chances no matter what. So why does online = bad?

It doesn't.  You could say the same thing about the first mall that was built.  "Ooooh, the kids all hang out there now, which gives the pedos easier access!"  It's all pretty much the same thing.

Yeah, everything you guys said.  I know that people have had good experiences meeting people from the internet but I am not one of them.

I have been fooled by people I've known for years.  And I know that psychopaths existed before the internet.  I am just terrified that I trust people so easily and believe that people in general are always truthful.  I am retarded, basically.

after seeing the winners on datewrecks.com interwebs dating scares me. I realize there were freaks, geeks, and pervs (and just plain uggos) before the internet but damn internet dating sure does make them easier to find!  :-o

I think he took his dog (and stuff) and dropped him off to someone and went and killed himself.

This is what I would do if I was like, it's okcupid or nothing, but everyone on the board hates me for it.
