Boulder Catholic School Student Expelled Because His Parents Are Gay

BOULDER, Colo. — A Catholic school in Colorado is kicking out a preschooler because the child's parents are lesbians.

The child will not be allowed to re-enroll next year at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic School. The Denver Archdiocese posted a statement Friday that the parents are "living in open discord with Catholic teaching."

The statement says students in Catholic schools are expected to have parents who abide by policies of the school and church. The Archdiocese said students with gay parents in Catholic schools would become "confused."

If you were gay, why would you want your child to go to Catholic school?

yeah, why the fuck would they send the child there to begin with? if they were trying to make a statement, they should not use their child to do so. i hope this doesn't stay with them or affect them (the kid).

lol maybe. if they were accepted into the church as they were, then it doesnt make any sense to kick the kid out b/c their parents were gay. i would think if they knew it wasn't accepted, they would not have place the kid in that school.

Some of us actually believe in God and it is unfortunate that his "people" do these things.
Some people would like to have their kids in a religious school as opposed to secular. Not all schools are like this one. 

I know plenty of gays that use Christian schools and they have no issues. Some do.  Heteros do not have the monopoly on God.

Yeah, but everyone knows that gay is frowned upon at actual Catholic schools. Not saying it was right for the school to kick the kid, but this happened in Boulder, so I am totally willing to bet it was a political statement.

Boulder = everyone grab your picket signs, granola, and your closest gay friend, who has really good weed.

Okay, first of all, the Bible sometimes says (and sometimes doesn't say) that the sins of the fathers are visited onto the sons...Nothing at all about the sins of the mothers, so boo-yah.

Secondly, I've met several people who went to Catholic school...and their parents were straight and married, so...

And, you know what? I'm not buying this hype about the parents being lesbians; I think they were in a good old fashioned Old Testament marriage with 1 man, multiple women...and the patriarch of the family died. You know the [s]concubines[/s] sister wives have to stick together!

I would think that if the people that ran this school really gave two shits, they would use this as a PERFECT opportunity to show this kid that the way his "parents" were living, was wrong.

If the public schools in your area are abysmal, and you can't afford public school it's a reasonable alternative. I know here in NYC you'll often have non-Catholic (or non-Lutheran or non-whatever) kids in these schools because their middle-class parents can afford $2,000 a year but not $10,000. And letting the kid(s) go to the shitty school in their district isn't an option.

There are non-denominational independent schools, that are affordable compared to private school, but they're usually not very well known.

I always hear so many "Christians, Catholics, etc." (no offense to anyone here) talk about what the GODLY thing to do would be.

Well, if you have a student (or friend, family member) that is doing something "wrong", a lot of people try to use that as a way to get closer to that person to show them that they are living the WRONG way.

So... in a lot of people's eyes... the little boy should have been able to continue going to the school, because he "needs it more" than some other students do, because his parents are living in sin.

I don't know... me and some friends of mine were talking about stuff like this the other day in a "religious debate"... and about 90% of them said that when people are living the "wrong" way, it's "our job (the Christians, Catholics, etc.) to be close to them, and bring them closer to God, in order to show them that they aren't living right.

So, kicking him out, is just steering him away from Catholocism, because he feels "shunned" by them, so to speak. So really, they got the OPPOSITE of what they were trying to achieve, by enrolling him into the school in the first place.

I'm rambling, going on a 40 hour work-fest... so my brain is half fried. :/
