A MAN was lucky to escape serious injury when a train hit the rear wheel of his bike at Salisbury Interchange.

The man suffered minor injuries, including abrasions to his arms, chest and back in the near-miss, which happened just before 6.30pm.

Paramedics at the scene said the man had little recollection of what had happened.

East-bound traffic on Park Tce was diverted around the area and Gawler Line trains were cancelled while the incident was investigated. They were running again within an hour.

Police said it appeared the cyclist failed to stop at a stop sign on approach to the train line.

I was in the front carriage of this train, as we were getting close to Salisbury Station I noticed the driver was going mental on his horn.
Then we must have hit him, There was 3 big bumps and a disgusting grinding sound. I thought it must have been his body underneath us. Everyone on the train groaned and started screaming. I covered my face with my hands (that’ll fix it! Ha ha). I got off the train and refused to walk behind it because I didn’t want to see.
I was okay until I rang my mum and started freaking out saying there is a man under the train and asking her to come get me. Called John and told him he had to stay on the phone to me while I walked past the train so I didn’t see.
As soon as I got home I checked the news website and it said he didn’t get pulled under and got away with a few abrasions. So lucky.
I've been a jittering mess last night, keep hearing the noises over and over. You’d think I’d be okay since I know he is!
I guess that I'm still recoveriing from shock or something
