On July 23, the Oklahoma-based influencer and her estranged husband, Jeremiah “Shawn” Duffey, were found dead in an apparent murder-suicide — less than two weeks after Gilson, 43, had gone viral on TikTok for sharing that she had “just found out” that Duffey, 48, was allegedly a pedophile.

“Preparing for when Netflix drops a documentary about my soon to be ex husband who I just found out is a pedophile,” Gilson wrote above footage of herself sitting down. (The video was part of the ongoing Netflix documentary trend, in which users pretend to sit for an interview with the streamer for a documentary.)

“I wish I was joking,” the influencer and mother of two wrote in the caption.

The Bay County medical examiner says the cause of death for 12-year-old Olivia Mae Marie Smith is a mystery.

Olivia died Tuesday evening at a friend's house in Kawkawlin Township. A 911 call indicates she ran into a tree, but her family is not convinced that's what happened.

Ring camera video from the friend's porch shows Olivia sitting outside around 9:15 p.m. Tuesday evening. She can be seen walking off to the left, passing some trees.

At around 9:21 p.m., a 911 call was made. The dispatcher said it was "for a 12-year-old female who ran face first into a tree. She is unconscious at this time."

Olivia was rushed to the hospital, where she died. The Bay County Sheriff's Department is investigating, and an autopsy has been conducted.

It's not clear why anyone would be to blame, but there were some eyewitness accounts that Olivia was being chased by someone. The family released a statement saying they don't believe she ran into a tree.

"We were told as was everyone else that Olivia was running and ran into a tree," the family said. "We know this not to be true."

The family also said they have more details they cannot share because of the investigation.

"We are asking that if anyone else has information to reach out as many people have sent videos and reached out to offer what they witnessed that evening," the family said.

A family member says Olivia did have a heart condition, but it's not clear if that caused her death. Morrone says the full autopsy results will be available in about eight weeks.

A search continues in the Grand Canyon for a wayward 83-year-old hiker from Kanab.

“At approximately 5 p.m. on July 21, the Grand Canyon Regional Communications Center received a report from an individual who said he had become separated from his hiking partner,” the agency said. Family members of a 28-year-old Lake City man who has been missing for more than two weeks are pleading for the public’s help as they search for answers in his unexplained disappearance.

Seattle police are asking for assistance in locating Diangelo McKinney, who was last seen leaving his apartment building at 5:45 p.m. on July 6.

His family says a series of unusual circumstances has heightened concerns for his safety.

McKinney’s sister, Jasmine McKinney, said she became alarmed after learning family members had not heard from him. She requested a welfare check, then went to his apartment herself on July 9.

"When I got there, it was unlocked," she said. "We discovered that his ID was still there, his passport was there and his old phone was there. That is so out of character for my brother."

Jasmine said her brother always carried identification and maintained regular contact with family members.

The discovery of McKinney’s two cats alone in the apartment added to the family’s concern.

Former British politician Ann Widdecombe was struck 21 times on the head with a hammer as she was eating lunch at home, a prosecutor told a court hearing on Tuesday for the man charged in her murder.

Investigators say they found possible evidence in the decades-old disappearance of Robert “Bobby Joe” Fritz and are now digging in the basement of the Campbellsport home where he lived when he vanished.

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office said detectives served a search warrant Thursday, July 16, at the house where Bobby Joe lived when he disappeared.

During that search, investigators located what they described as potential evidence.

Because of that, the sheriff’s office said a larger excavation is now underway inside the home’s basement with help from the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation and the state Crime Lab.

Robert was last seen playing in an empty lot in his family's Campbellsport, Wisconsin neighborhood on May 14, 1983. The lot was beside the Mill Pond/Milwaukee River in the area where the Campbellsport Firehouse now stands. Sometime between 2:30 and 4:30 p.m., Robert told his sister he was hungry and was going to walk home. Robert never arrived home and has never been heard from again. A North Texas real estate agent has been arrested and charged with capital murder by terroristic threat, according to Tarrant County jail and court records.

Mayra Velasquez, 42, was arrested by Arlington police for the Jan. 2012 killing of Irasema Chavez Sanchez and is being held at the Tarrant County Jail without bond, according to court records. Jail records indicate she was booked in on July 17.

According to medical examiner records, Sanchez died by multiple stab wounds in a kitchen in the 2700 block of South Collins Street in Arlington.

Police said in a news release that homicide detectives met with the FBI Dallas Field Office in Nov. 2024 to discuss using the bureau’s Investigative Genetic Genealogy program and got the agency’s agreement to assist.

The program uses genetic databases to compare suspect DNA to samples received from customers, looking for familial matches that might help identify a suspect.

The department did not say in the release specifically how they used the program to identify Velasquez.

Lupe Jimenez, another real estate agent, said she knew Velasquez around 2022 and 2023 when they were working for the same company.

To Jimenez, Velasquez seemed to be an exceptionally kind person. She was married with children and would frequently travel outside the country to visit relatives.

“For me she was a sweet lady, very outgoing, helpful, family oriented,” Jimenez said. “I’m in shock because she’s not somebody I thought would ever do anything like that.”

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A 19-year-old has been charged with first-degree murder for allegedly stabbing a man to death on the pedestrian bridge in Providence earlier this week.

Joseph LaRoche was arraigned Friday morning in Providence District Court, accused of killing 40-year-old Gerald “Jerry” Blair.

Court documents obtained by 12 News state LaRoche “willfully, deliberately and maliciously” stabbed and murdered Blair on Tuesday, July 14.

According to the affidavit, a group of people were socializing on the Michael S. Van Leesten Memorial Bridge around 10:30 p.m. when a homeless man approached them and “began breakdancing.”

Police said members of the group began antagonizing him and challenged him to a “slap boxing” wrestling match. During the scuffle, someone allegedly threw one of the man’s shoes into the river and another person “forcefully slapped” him.

The affidavit states Blair then stepped in between the group to defend the man. Surveillance footage allegedly showed LaRoche walking behind Blair while holding a black knife.

Seconds later, Blair was seen lying on his back with what police described as a large wound to the chest. Police said Blair raised his hands in an apparent attempt to defend himself as several people continued punching and striking him.

Blair eventually stood to his feet and allegedly tried to flee. Police said several people, including LaRoche, chased after him while LaRoche was still holding the knife.

Surveillance footage showed LaRoche strike Blair once more, who had fallen to the ground, before the group dispersed.

Officers were called to the scene just after 10:45 p.m. to find Blair lying on the bridge with multiple stab wounds. He was rushed to the hospital and later pronounced dead.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Memphis mother is accused of shooting a man to death in Southwest Memphis after he was caught hiding under her daughter’s bed.

Officers say they responded to a shooting call at a home in the 3000 block of Travis Road. When they arrived at the scene, they said they found a man dead near the front porch.

The man, who has been identified as Rodderius Morton (20), was pronounced dead after suffering from a gunshot wound to the back of his head, police reported.

A woman, later identified as Kendra Scott (36), stated to police that she “saw a dude under my kids’ bed, and I did what I had to do.”

A juvenile who was a witness at the residence in the 3000 block of Travis Road was also interviewed by investigators. The juvenile allegedly told them that Morton had been invited inside the home and came in through the back door at 1 a.m.

Investigators said the juvenile told them Scott came home around 1:30 a.m., knocking loudly at the front door and yelling, “Who’s at my house?”

The juvenile stated that she was scared of Scott because she had a gun in her hand, visibly angry, and that Scott previously told her, “if I see a boy in the house, then I will put a hole in his a**.”

When the juvenile finally let Scott in the home, Morton was found hiding under a bed in the juvenile’s room, investigators said. As Morton was leaving the residence, he and Scott got into a verbal argument, with Scott yelling to him, “Get out of my house, b****!”

Once Scott and Morton made it to the front porch, the juvenile said she heard one gunshot.

A 20-year-old mother and her boyfriend have been arrested after the woman's 2-year-old son found a gun hidden in a couch and fatally shot himself, authorities said.

Jamaria Cobb and Armand Bright, 52, were both arrested on suspicion of child abuse causing great bodily injury or death. They remain in custody on $1.3 million bail.

The incident happened on Thursday just before 5:30 p.m. at a home on Victoria Street. Cobb and Bright were at home when the child found the gun hidden between two couch cushions and shot himself.

A middle Georgia woman is missing after she was reportedly last known to be seen leaving her place of work at a Macon nursing home.

The Bibb County Sheriff's Office said the 70-year-old Teresa "Terri" Meharg was last seen on July 12 at her job at Blossom Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center on Whiteside Road.

Meharg's job contacted a family member around 6:00 p.m. the next day to inform them she had not shown up for work.

The 70-year-old's family then contacted the Centerville Police Department (CPD), who contacted Meharg's workplace, which said she never clocked out on Sunday.

BSO said its investigator later began assisting CPD on Wednesday and discovered that the 70-year-old was last seen driving away from her job on July 13 in a black Jeep Patriot SUV at 12:48 a.m. and merging onto I-75 South at Eisenhower Parkway.

Meharg was last seen wearing gray medical scrubs and is described as 5 feet 2 inches tall and as weighing 175 pounds, according to authorities.

A Lanett woman has been charged with murder in connection with the June 12 death of her 2-year-old daughter, Madilynn Hadaway, according to the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office.

Sierra Shay Hadaway, 22, was arrested following an investigation into the child’s death. She is currently held at the Chambers County Detention Facility with no bond.

Three minors have been charged in connection with the shooting death of a 16-year-old Jefferson County girl, Gabbriana Boyster.

The Jefferson County Juvenile Office announced Tuesday afternoon that one minor has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, unlawful use of a weapon resulting in death, armed criminal action and abandonment of a corpse.

Two others were charged with abandoning her corpse and were released from custody.

Deputies responded Saturday afternoon to a home in the 7900 block of Tower Road near Hillsboro, where they found 16-year-old Boyster with an apparent gunshot wound to the head. Family said everyone called her Gabby.

Investigators believe Gabby was shot Friday evening and that her body remained inside the home for hours before she was discovered.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, Gabby's mother had been away at the time of the shooting. When she returned home Saturday afternoon, she found her daughter and called 911. Paramedics determined there was nothing they could do.

Authorities in Alabama say a man is in custody after he was connected to the alleged double murder of a husband and wife who were found dead in their home.

The Pickens County Sheriff’s Office says 46-year-old George Birmingham was taken into custody during a reported burglary around 12:15 a.m. Sunday.

While questioning him, authorities connected Birmingham to the alleged double murder of Justin and Lena Elrod, 43 and 42, respectively. The husband and wife were found dead in their Reform home.

Court records allege Birmingham used some sort of metallic object to stab or hit Justin Elrod over the head. He allegedly used an electric saw to kill Lena Elrod.

Julie Goforth, 63, of Long Beach, California, was riding a dirt bike in the El Mirage Off-Highway Vehicle Recreation Area on Friday morning.

Goforth was riding with her wife, Laura Wells, and a friend, Juan, all of whom got up early that morning to go for a ride before temperatures climbed too high.

Goforth never returned to the vehicle they had driven to the trailhead. Wells added that Juan said Goforth had fallen off the bike a couple of times before she went missing but was “fine” afterward.

On Friday and Saturday, search team that included law enforcement officers, volunteers, dogs, drones and a helicopter searched for Goforth without success.

A desperate search for a missing Glendale woman has turned into a murder investigation. Police arrested a man who detectives say met a woman on social media and was believed to be on a date the night she was killed.

Detectives used everything from cell phone data to surveillance video to track the suspect, 24-year-old Domonic Rodolico.

Police said 21-year-old Arianna Jones was found dead in a remote area near Lake Pleasant on July 11, four days after her family reported her missing."Our detectives did find a shallow grave in that area, and they found a body in that grave," Jose Santiago of the Glendale Police Department said. "There was enough evidence, physical evidence of not only clothing but other things matching Ms. Jones to be able to identify her."

Digital evidence, vehicle tracking, and surveillance footage quickly led detectives to Rodolico, who was already on felony probation in connection to a burglary. Rodolico is now charged with first-degree murder.

The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department has opened an Internal Affairs investigation after the remains of a child were discovered this week in a wooded area of the Metro East, two years after a St. Louis woman reported her son missing.

Police Chief Robert Tracy announced the review Thursday, saying the department will examine why two years elapsed despite the filing of multiple missing persons reports and an investigation by the department's Juvenile Division. Tracy said the family "deserves answers" and pledged transparency and accountability throughout the review.

According to SLMPD, the child's mother first reported her 2-year-old son missing to the department in July 2024, telling investigators Ronnell Jones Jr. had last been seen with his father. Detectives followed multiple leads and interviewed witnesses, but police said the investigation was complicated by conflicting statements and information. The police department said prosecutors ultimately declined to file charges at that time.

The investigation received renewed attention last month when the child's mother filed another missing persons report with the Desloge Police Department in St. Francois County. That report led to a multi-agency investigation involving the FBI, Illinois law enforcement agencies and the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. Authorities found the child's remains Wednesday night in Stookey Township near Belleville.

St. Louis homicide detectives are assisting in the death investigation alongside the FBI and other local and regional law enforcement partners, according to the city police department. It described the investigation as active and ongoing.

The sheriff's office described Amber as being 5'2" and 105 pounds with blonde hair and blue eyes. She is believed to be driving a 1994 blue Honda Accord and is traveling with her white dog.

WELLINGTON, New Zealand — Sam Neill, a smoothly elegant and versatile actor whose career moved from art film to blockbuster as he dodged velociraptors in "Jurassic Park" to playing Holly Hunter's husband in "The Piano," has died. He was 78.

In 2023, Neill disclosed he had been diagnosed with angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma, a rare type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Neill died on Monday in Sydney, according to a statement posted to the actor's social media page.
