A.J. Hill, 26, passed away unexpectedly on June 2, 2017 of an apparent drug overdose.
Born in Portland on July 24, 1990, A.J. was the son of Arthur Hill, Sr. and Judith Roberts. He attended South Portland High School before enlisting in the United States Army where he served as a combat veteran in the 82nd Airborne in Iraq.
A.J. was a kindhearted and engaging young man who enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. He was a simple, easy going guy who was proud of his service to his country and a loving father to his 6 year old son, Brayden. He was the typical happy-go-lucky 26 year old from New England, who enjoyed Boston sports and spending time with his family and friends.
A.J. fought and ultimately lost his battle to the emotional and physical pain of war and his subsequent addiction. He was a good hearted kid who carried around a demon. A.J. received tremendous amounts of support from his friends and family, especially his loving mother, Judy. However, once the hooks of addiction set in, there was no amount of love or support that could help him break it.
He is predeceased by his grandfather, William Roberts.
A.J. is survived by his beloved son, Brayden Hill; mother, Judy Hill; brother, Daniel Roberts and fiancé Elizabeth Lee; beloved grandmother, Patricia Roberts; grandmother Judy Hill of Scarborough; father, Arthur Hill; former wife, Jessica Tripp; several aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members.
