A bizarre murder out of the Texas Hill Country. The Kerr County sheriff's office says a well-known ranch owner killed a San Antonio woman thinking evidence could never be found on his thousands of acres of land.

"This is about the area where the murder would have taken place," said Kerr County Sheriff Rusty Hierholzer.

Sheriff Rusty Hierholzer says the missing person's report for 26-year-old Magan King led them to the ranch of Eric Daniel Auld in Hunt, Texas.

"This is about the area we found her," said Sheriff Hierholzer.

Auld was arrested over the weekend for King's murder. But it wasn't an easy task for the Kerr county sheriff's office to gather the evidence needed to charge him. They called in assistance from across the area to help cover the 5600 acres, more than 8.75 square miles of land.

"So when you are searching that large of an area it is time consuming, there is alot of buildings on it, a lot of barns, all kinds of stuff," said Hierholzer.

Hierholzer says a search warrant was issued Friday and by Saturday evening they had gathered what they needed.

"We found her vehicle or the vehicle she was using in one part of the ranch, hidden back in a lot of brush, had already been loaded on a trailer to be disposed of," said Hierholzer.

He says they also found king's remains, despite the strong efforts auld allegedly went to trying to dispose of them. Hierholzer says he burned her body for nearly 4 days.

"Unfortunately when somebody's body has been burned for days and days, and buried in brush piles on it, it gets very difficult and you have to have the help of anthropologist with sifting and finding very minute pieces," says Hierholzer.

Hierholzer says the two were acquaintances for several years. He will not go into detail on why they believe auld killed king, but say this was all drug-related.

Sheriff Hierholzer says Auld is not cooperating with their investigation. He is being held in the Kerr county jail on murder charges.
