At least one of the two bodies pulled from Lake Pontchartrain this week are one the 13-year-old brothers -- Aaronne Mitchell and Aaronne Russell -- who went missing on Easter Sunday.
Orleans Parish Coroner's Office spokesman John Gagliano confirmed that one body found was that of Aaronne Russell whose body was found Thursday. Crews pulled Russell's body out of the lake near the Rigolets, about 20 miles from where the teens were last seen. The cause of death was accidental drowning.
On Friday, the St. Tammany Sheriff's confirmed they found the body of a small-statured male, about a mile from the northshore of Lake Pontchartrain, in the Bayou Liberty area. Deputies said the body was badly decomposed and officials could not determine the race.
Initially, family members said both Mitchell and Russell were identified as the bodies found by authorities, and are now working with the coroner's office to determine if the second body is Aaronne MItchell.
The two brothers were last seen near the old Lincoln Beach at Lake Pontchartrain.
Earlier Saturday, according to the teens' father, Aaronne Simmons, the family planed to search until around 4 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday in the area where the bodies were found, and said they were still holding out hope that the bodies do not belong to the missing teens.
An official from Wildlife and Fisheries, said their search has ended, and Equusearch, the volunteer search team from Texas, is also no longer searching for the missing boys.
